A step up from college life (maybe)

When I moved here it was straight out of college and I was unfamiliar with Houston. It was certainly a step up from what I'd been living in in college (I lived in one of the renovated apts).

At first it was okay for my first place alone, but as the months went by it seemed they let anyone rent there who wanted to. There started to be problems with old broken down cars in the lot, groups of guys hanging around outside...I felt it was unsafe to go to the pool alone, like I was being watched.

Even if you are starting your first job and can't afford much, don't live here. Find a roomate and split more expensive rent somewhere else, etc., just don't move here if you're a young woman and you live alone. The whole area near the Med Center isn't they greatest. I'd say it's worth it to commute a little farther and have a safer place.
