females looking for a safe home-- look elsewhere

If you are a female looking for an environment in which you can safe and comfortable in, please look elsewhere.

1. I've seen and heard of numerous car break-ins. One day, I went to the grocery store for not even 20 minutes. I came back and parked in the same spot I left only to see the car next to me get put on jacks because someone just stole their rims. I went looking for a guard....none to be found.

2. It seems to be required now that every time you enter through the apartment complex gate the security guard will have to take 5 minutes to write down your license plate and driver's license number before you can go to your home (even if they see u 3 times a day everyday...) The apartment management are too dumb to issue gate cards only for access and perhaps resident stickers to be placed in residents' cars to overpass this inconvenience. I asked the guard why this has started. He then tells me that a lady was held up at gun point the day prior but none of the residents or myself had ever received a notice of this event happening or why this new gate check was necessary. If the guards weren't sleeping all the time and doing their work, there wouldn't be an issue.

3. If you enjoy living with lil roachies and other buggers, you will have a blast here. I've been here for 4-5 months now and no matter how clean we keep the apartment, they still linger around. It seems that the entire apartment complex has a big bug problem.

4. Water seems to be shut down indefinitely without any notice once a week. So for those that like to shower before going to work, shower the night prior; for those who like to brush their teeth, have some extra water available to gargle; for those who like to cook, have extra jugs of water available; for those who like to use their washer/dryer, do it asap or enjoy going to work in dirty clothes.

5. The parking lot needs to be repaved. There are potholes galore and broken pavement and debris that will ruin your tires, leave dings and chipped paint from all the rocks flying around.

6. Sketchy neighbors are sketchy. If you are a semi-attractive female, carry some mace and perhaps a pocket knife. If you have a nice car, it will be in pieces within a few weeks.

7. On the somewhat bright side, you have theft-proof entry doors. Meaning that you have to lift the door by the door knob and kick the door in for it to open.

The only good thing about this place for me is the location. But IMO, I don't think I care to compromise my safety for efficiency.

Due to the increase of crime in the area the property has asked the guard on duty to check the identification of anyone entering the property. The increase in crime is in the area not just on this property. Law inforcment has been contacted as well as apartment communities in the area. It has been reported that they too are having vehicles vandalized and an increase in crime. Statistice show that there is an increase in crime throughout the Houston area in the summer months. This is something that we are all working to prevent as a community. If you do not want to be stopped when entering the community as a resident you have the option to purchase a gate remote and use the resident gate when entering. We do not have gate cards, but we do have gate remotes and this will prevent you being "inconvenienced" when entering the property. The only vehicles the guards are instructed to stop are vehicles using a code or following other vehicles into the community. This is an attempt from managment to control the traffic entering the community between the hours of 11:00pm to 5:00am. We offer free pest conrtol weekly and any resident that is having a pest issue is urged to call the office to be put on the list for extermination. I personally live on the property and have for a year (in 2 different apartments). I do not have a pest problem and have not through my entire stay here. There has been several under ground pipes crack this summer due to the ground getting so hot and dry. This is City of Houston pipes and this is not within the communities control. When possible there are notices given out that the water will be shut off. There has not been 1 time since my employment here that water has been turned off for more than 15 minutes at a time without notification to the residents. Management is aware that the parking lot does need to be repaired. This has been brought to the attention of the development team that does the repair and will be repaired in the near future. If there is an issue with your front door being hard to open (or any other service needed in your apartment) please feel free to contact the office or put a notice in writing and we will be happy to assist you with that. Thank You, 7100 Almeda
