Good Place For Spring Internships...

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004
I lived at Avalon Square Apartments during a spring internship with one of the Big 4 accounting firms.
Location:
This place has a sweet location and results in less than an 8 minute drive to work downtown if you take Shepherd to W Dallas. I worked at the Allen Center... it couldn't have been better.
The place is located in a hip part of town in between a lot of restaurants and shops. This is sweet - hot chicks are always at Taco Milagro next door. *HOWEVER* there are so many people at Taco Milagro that they park at Avalon Square and fill up all of the outside guest spots - Avalon has a guy on Thursday nights that tows them - but he has towed residents of Avalon - so be careful and park below.
Parking:
The parking downstairs is great - when it's not raining. Your car - if outside - might get broken into - the crime in the area is horrible. Both areas flood like no other when it rains. There were several days where I was wading through water that was at least 6 inches deep. Look out. If you are smart - there are spots and areas you can park to avoid the water.
Place:
My roommate and I got a 2-2 that was the model unit. We scored a 3 month lease with minimal surcharge - most other places tack on an additional $200 a month for short leases - this was good.
The facilities are a little run-down in the halls. However, our apartment was nice and well kept. I couldn't steal anyones internet access from my room because everyone was using that provider that locks their routers. However, I could get sweet internet from others while in the laundry rooms.
Staff:
The staff is okay and they fixed any problem we had - they are being little dicks about our deposit right now. I'm not worried because deposit claims in small claims court results in triple damages - which would be sweet.
Utilities:
We got free water/trash/cable. The electric bill was reasonable. Our cable reception sucked at times.
Conclusion:
Avalon Square has big positives and negatives. I would not live here for longterm - but it kicks ass for short-term internships. Also - the bus stops right out front. x-2PE3sjUIIeetAHoKOk
