Avalon Square Apartments

Don't trust the management! From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 5/26/2005 Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004   This is a great location but do not trust the management staff or the maintenance. When I moved in David made the decision to rip out the carpeting in my 2nd bedroom. I had him come up there to look at it because, even after the cleaning, the carpet was a mess. Sonny & Jose tore out the carpet and I told David not to worry about it, I'll just stain the concrete and use the room as is. When I leave they will need to replace the carpeting anyway so let's save time and money. When my lease expired, I was also moving out of state. I cleaned my apt and turned in everything I needed to but did not have time to do a walk-thru (the staff is never around when you need them). Several months later I receive a bill and they want me to pay for the carpeting. I call to speak with someone but Karen is out so I ask to have her return my call. She never did. Several months later I get another notice and I call back, David can't handle it so Karen never calls me back. Oh yeah, they also said I did not pay a deposit, but they could not dispute my canceled check showing it was paid. I then started dealing with the main office and Jennifer said she would handle it after I faxed everything to her. A few weeks later I get a bill from a debt collector. Basically after arguing with Karen and the head office they reduced the debt (as I did not want this on my credit report) and they wanted me to pay them directly. I called the collection agency and they informed me that I had to pay the agency not the apt. complex. If I had paid them this would have gone on my credit report. David and Karen are only helpful to get you in - after that no help at all. Maintenance is incompetant, Karen should not be managing people and get everything in writing if you decide to live here. Oh yeah, they tried to say I ripped out the carpeting w/o their approval, then finally Sonny & Jose admitted to doing it and Karen finally admitted she came up to see the floor and okayed it. I had my friend with me at the time and she witnessed this mess. My a/c was broken for months on end and it was difficult to get these folks to come in and fix it...I could go on and on and on..Basically, don't waste your time or money..
