I currently live at Avalon, and for the location and square footage you really can't be the price...but you have to determine if the filth is worth the cost. Much like other reviews have mentioned, the trash smell permeates through the stairs, and the interior hallways are carpeted and dirty. All of the carpet, even interior seems very dirty, and since I have moved in I have had severe allergy problems, and I have lived in Houston all of my life. You oftentimes have to go though 3-4 doors before you get to your apartment, and touching all of these grungy common doors makes me rush for the sink and soap upon entry to my apartment. Though soap and water dont make you feel much cleaner, because 90% of the time my water is a rust orange color. This includes cooking water, bathwater, and worst of all rust orange ice cubes from the freezer. The managements response is that it's in the pipes and they cant remove all the pipes. Additionally my AC has gone out 3-4 times in the last 6 months with a 48 response time for repair. Also, there are not seals around apartment entry doors, rather a 1 1/2 gap along the floor, so you get to pay to air condition the hallway as well. Do not dare park underground because we live in Houston and frequently experience flash storms, which would leave your car underwater because all of the runoff from Westheimer ends up in the underground parking garage (which is also where many of the AC units are housed- nice). Some areas above ground in the front lot flood with great frequency as well. The pros of this complex are location and cheap rent. There are several great restaurants in the vicinity and that was my justification for moving in, though I am not willing to make that MANY scarifies.
