Don't move here. I recently had a falling out with management stemming from the fact that Pam (the so-called Business Manager) ordered all bicylcles removed from the filthly garage without notifying tenants or giving us an opportunity to save our property from the dumpster. I tried, unsuccessfully, to reach an amicable agreement with them by deducting a fair amount from that month's rent as reimbursement for our 2 bicycles. Pam initially accepted my check but then returned it along with an eviction proceeding against us.

As a result of the court-ordered mediation, I agreed to pay my rent for the month and they accepted to reimburse me for the lost property, a payment which we are still waiting for despite of my having had to pay them immediately for rent. Needless to say since they were evicting us, we found another apartment in another complex.

Today I received a final bill from them for over $2k since they claim that we did not give them 2 months advance notice that we would be vacating the premises - even though they were the ones who were evicting us!!!! CAREFUL, THESE PEOPLE HAVE CLAWS and are unwilling to be reasonable with reasonable people.

Funny story. First of all you do not withhold rent because they threw away your bicycles. If you do, then YOU are breaking your lease and they were completely within their rights to evict you. WHO advised you of that wise move? Your lease and your bicycle matter are two separate things. You should have just sued them for taking your bicycles (conversion of chattels) and would have won easily...then all they can do is pay you. They would not have been able to evict you...if they do then you sue THEM for breach of contract. However since you went after them without talking to an attorney consider they gave you a $2000 legal education on leases and contracts.
