High Electricity Bill, Poor Maintenance

When I moved in here in July the Office people told me the sub-metered apartments cost less in electricity, the grounds were being upgrades and the property was being renovated. When I got my first light bill (two weeks later) the manager cut it in half and told me that the apartments were wired incorrectly and the bill was so high because I was paying for my apatment and part of antoher. 10 months and 5 property managers later they still have refused to correct the problem and they stopped cutting the bills in half after the 3rd or 4th bill. I have written several notes requesting they correct the problem but like all the maintenance around here they do as little as possible or nothing at all to correct problems. I have pictures of leaks and stains on my walls and ceilings from upstairs apartments that the management will not fix. Stacks of written requests for service that have not been fixed. I turned off and unplugged everything in my apartment went out to look at my meter and the little wheel was still spinning. I have followed the instructions on the public utility commission website requesting that they fix these problems and requested an independent qualified professional to check my meter and they refused. Their maintenance man came into my apartment and turned off my fridge from the inside without telling me he had done so and went out to check my meter and he never turned it back on and I did not discover it until the next day. When I sent a written request to the management and the management company (Whitney Management Corp) to reimburse my for the ruined food, they ingorned all my requests. The property is falling apart, bricks are falling from support posts, the police are out here 4 to 5 times a week and that is just what I have seen. It is a large complex, I am sure they are here more frequently. It is a shame because the apartments are huge and beautiful on the inside. The people in the office are nice... until you move in. They make all kinds of promises and tell you all kinds of tails about how they are improving things, but is is all deceptive. I would never have moved in here if they had told me the truth.

I agree with you on the Whitney Management Corp. problems. They treated us the same way. I think they are overcharging people for electricity and pocketing the rest.
