I've been living here for over three years and am desperately looking forward to my lease ending in the next few months. This place has major problems with resident retention and it's no wonder why. I only moved here because the rent was reasonable on a student stipend and it's close the medical center (where I go to school/work).

I have cracks in my walls, my doors don't fit in the frames - I had to nail weather stripping into the top of the front door to fill in the wedge that existed so I wouldn't loose my AC through the gap; my bathroom door won't even close! - I have had 2 different refigerators because when they came to fix one aspect another problem resulted and now I am having the same original problem with the new fridge and have had the problem for over a year but I'm afraid to call to have it fixed should they break something else again.

My car has been broken into twice in the last 3 years and the year it didn't happen, I didn't have a car radio because it had been ripped out the year before and I hadn't replaced it. I don't have comprehensive insurance (a luxury on a student salary for an old car like mine) so I had to pay for the window to be fixed the first year and for the lock and door to be fixed this year and it cost more money than I'm saving in rent by living here.

Also my neighbors are very loud and blare their music all hours of the night and day. None of them seem to have jobs to go to.

The maintenance staff is VERY slow to respond and you have to hope they don't break things that you call to be fixed. I have roach problems occasionally and there are weak points in my floors where there are dips and things (not to mention that they don't seem level to begin with. Also the management and office staff change annually and although I think the latest manager has actually been trying to improve matters, most of the other staff are rude and unprofessional and never have any answers for you.

The crime can get bad with apartment break-ins as well as car break-ins and I have to hear about them on they fly from seeing cops in the parking lot or overhearing other residents because the staff don't put out any kind of warning notice. It's ridiculous. I think the only reason I haven't had the problem is because I am on the second floor and have a double dead bolt.

I can't wait to get out of this lease I only wish there were more places affordable and safe for students. While I know that no apartment property can guarantee your safety, this one doesn't have a security guard and I've never seen the "courtesy officer" once in 3 years. Also, the gate is always broken and usually takes weeks to be fixed.

The only nice thing about this place is the cost of rent for the square footage and the fact that they have washer dryer hook-ups. Most places now have washer-dryer in unit and won't remove them for you. Since my set is brand new, finding another place to move to has become very problematic. So, if you are really strapped for cash, have a car with an alarm and a factory installed stereo, and need some where that you can hook-up your W/D, then this place might not be the WORST for you. But I would still advise you to look else where and either be willing to pay more or have a longer commute or both! That, or get a roommate and rent a townhouse or a home where you'll be safer and can still make ends meet.

You can an should contact the department of code enforcement for your area. Show them the floors and all your concerns. Send any and all maintenance requests in writing, directly to the manager with your contact phone number. Let her know you will be forwarding your request to the landlord tenant association and code enforcement. That should light a fire underneath them and get your work orders fixed.
