worst management ever

I guess you can't expect much from apartment management & maintenance, but you would think you could at least expect them to care about the health & safety of their tennants. Not true at Brookfield. I lived at Brookfield for a year & a half. For several months I got terrible head aches, skin rashes, a chronic cough & a burning in my throat. One day I came home to discover the entire carpet drenched in water & the sheet rock in the hall & closet covered in mold. The problem was a leak from the A/C unit above me. They came to fix it & all they did was paint over the mold! So a few days later, the carpet was drenched, the mold was back, etc. They painted over the mold at least 4 times that I can remember. After fighting with them about the proper way to fix this problem, and them not doing anything, I had an independant contractor come in & test the apartment for mold. They found several kinds of mold on the wall & airborne, including Stachibotrys (toxic mold). There was a very high concentration of Stachibotrys in the air, so I moved out immediately & demanded to be let out of my lease. Yeah, right. After several failed attempts to deal with the horrible & completely disrespectful management team, and several weeks of having to pay 2 rents, I finally had to SUE the apartment complex & management company in order to get out of my lease. As of the date that I moved out, the leak causing all the problems STILL HAD NOT BEEN FIXED. The only way to rid that apartment & the surrounding apartments of the toxic mold would be to quarantine that section, fix any leaks, & completely clean the entire place, including replacing the carpet & some sheet rock. I drove by Brookfield a few weeks after I moved out & there was already someone moved into my old apartment, which means that they NEVER did clean the apartment of the mold & that person living there has probably had unexplained medical problems as well. I've lived in 7 different apartment complexes over the years & I never had any problems. And I lived in some pretty crappy places. This is BY FAR the WORST apartment complex & the WORST management company I've ever dealt with.
