Sometimes I think people forget this is Houston which is not zoned and therefore has security problems EVERYWHERE. No complex in Houston is safe. I lived in River Oaks and that wasnt safe either and cops patroled all the time. It's Houston, buy a gun and don't be stupid. All the apartments have double bolts and alarm systems, use them.

As for the apartment, I live in a 1 Bedroom, 1.5 Bath Townhome with 2 car garage and love the apartment. It's kinda small, but big enough for just me. Since September, my electric bill has averaged about $75, water about $15. I do hate that we can only get Comcast and it's in your rent. You have to get satelitte to get anything else. My only complaint about the apartment is that the walls are thin but the noise hasn't been that bad. Also, parking looks like it can be a pain if you don't have a garage.

As for maintenance, I haven't had any problems. They usually fix things same day. But they seem a bit unorganized. I get emailed about maintenance requests that I didn't make.

The office staff is always nice. They will be nice to you if you're nice to them. Usually people are just bitching at them so it's gotta be a stressful job. Take them some cookies and you'll never have an issue.

The gym is the worst part of the complex. It's horrible, very outdated. But because of that, there is hardly ever anyone in there so a machine is always open. There are 3 good treadmills, 2 good eleptical machines, a bike, stair thingy, so free weights, bench press and a dangerous looking pulley system that's usually broken.

I dont really feel safe at the complex but I wouldn't anywhere in Houston. It's a dangerous city. I have never seen any kind of security patrolling the complex so don't count on that. And with the economy so bad, crime will probably only get worse. So protect yourself.
