My husband and I were in the area on business for several months. We were unfamiliar with Houston and chose City View Place based primarily, on price and location (we needed easy access to the Woodlands and West Houston). While we were originally impressed with the leasing consultant and our apartment, we were quickly left wondering why we ever rented with them. The easy access to the walking trail behind the building is nice, but we found that kids (who weren't living in our building) would loiter in our parking lot because they could get in through the gate. We also were leary when we were awoken by gun shots several nights during our 4.5 month stay. One night, it was about midnight, and the shots sounded as though they were on the property, I called security. It sounded as though I had woken the gentleman up from a deep sleep and we never did notice him driving through our area. When we were talking about leasing the staff was friendly and helpful but once we were moved in, we had a difficult time getting assistance from them. Our company needed us to move rather abruptly and we had to terminate our lease early. We were told we would be billed for the outstanding balance (if any) at the end of the month. I called the office several times to enquire about our balance once we were settled in our new home (not in TX) and was dissmissed rudely each time by the leasing consultants. After several weeks we finally were able to get a total amount due. We sent the check immediately. A couple of weeks thereafter we recieved, in the mail, a notice from a collection company. The letter included the date that the collection agency aquired our account. That date was eight days AFTER our check to City View had been cleared. When I called, several times, each of the women that I talked with were rude and continued to tell me that I hadn't sent the check. Several times after telling them that I had the cancelled check in hand I was placed on hold and no one ever picked up the line. When I was finally able to reach the property manager he was very helpful and did his best to clear things up before our credit was effected but it was a little too late for us. We are returning to the Houston area in January for about 3 years, and wouldn't even consider renting from City View Place again.
