I lived there for 2.5 years. It was really nice when I first moved in. It had a value-price, nice units and quiet. Then alot of things went wrong at the same time in my last year there. There was a cleanup of Imperial Valley (a neighborhood near there), which got alot of the bad element out of that area. Well, they all seemed to come to the Cranbrook area. I know because a guy that I knew from High School who was in and out of jail moved in around that time.
So, you ended up with increased crime, alot of people just hanging out all times of the night outside. The peak of this was a shooting where 2 people were killed by deputies not too far from my unit. That was the last straw for me. I left with one month left on my lease. I really didn't feel safe at that complex anymore. That is really unfortunate, because the place was really nice when I moved in.
As far as the units themselves, they were nothing special. Though they did have large bedrooms. Every other room was really small, including the bathrooms. The place is old, so there are rotted carpets on the balconies and old wood as well.
Anyway, a month after I left a new management company took over and from what I heard and saw when I drove by, the place is really a dump. If anything, the units and landscaping looked nice when I was there, but even that has stopped happening now. I really wouldn't recommend living there. Not because of maintenance (that was always good), or price (that still is a good feature), but just safety and crime.
