Cheap but worn out amenities

The apartment is old, (built in 1979, I believe) so I guess that explains why the amenities are worn out. The part that bugged me most is the cupboards and drawers in the kitchen, they're so worn out, it seems like rodents and termites ate them up, I had to spread layers of paper to cover it up b4 I could put things in it. Also, there were cracks in the walls, under the cooker and between the cupboards, with roaches crawling out once in a while! I detest roaches, so that's very bad. The place actually floods during the rainy season and I've had to wade through water (half way up my knee!) to get into my apartment, luckily I was staying on the second floor, but I couldnt imagine how staying on the first floor would be with all that water. Note: The flooding is reeallly bad on wilcrest going towards westheimer. A lot of cars were getting stuck in it.
The place is poorly lit and it takes them ages to replace broken street lights. Also, the laundary room is full of insects flying around. The front door shrinks during winter and doesnt close properly. However, I didnt have any problems with pple breaking in to my apt or into my car. I didnt have any probs with parking, it was fairly sufficient, even late at night. Also, The environment was fairly calm and quiet, and when I moved out, I got my full deposit back, so that was a good thing. Overall, I would say if you are more concerned with price than with amenities, then you might consider The Crest.
