Used to be worth it for the savings but not anymore

I lived at the Crossings at Kirby for three years. It used to be pretty cheap, so its flaws could be overlooked since it had a good location. However, rent is going way up now, and there are problems that cannot be ignored. Most of the buildings have serious foundation problems (you could see daylight and part of the sidewalk under my front door when it was closed and bolted) and the insulation is terrible, so your electricity bills are sky-high. You can't even open the windows for some air--half are painted shut or the building has shifted so badly that you can't unlock them anymore--a real fire hazard. You can hear everything going on outside and in the next apartment. The staff are nice enough, but make things difficult--like insisting that you take time off of work to be home to let in a repair guy without ever checking to see if the repair could be done outside first (this happened to me--they were able to repair it outside--there was no need for me to ever be home).

There were some good things--in three years my car was never broken into, even when my husband left the doors unlocked. Also, the staff were very understanding about my outdoor cat and even made friends with him.

Overall, I don't think that the price is worth it anymore. Plus, with luxury apartments going up all around this property (its literally being surrounded) I expect it will be bought out and torn down soon enough to make more of these luxury apartments anyway.

I couldn't have said it better myself. The crack under my door has been fixed twice. The door has shifted so much that the door knob is not touching the door frame cutting knuckles when you turn the knob. Doors inside the apartment swing open unless latched and the patio door is impossible to open (fire hazard). What concerns me the most is the bathroom, tiles are popping off of the bathroom wall and friends have told me if it shifts too much the pipes can bust. Although I have renters insurance it does not cover flood damage. My roommates car was broken into unfortunately, and your cat is adorable, but he makes my cat so mad!!! Please teach your cat some manners (he is a cutie though)!
