I moved to Estancia about 2 months ago. I also read the ratings on this website before I signed my lease and I was really worried about living here. So much in fact, that I signed a 6 month lease instead of a full year. But, it was the nicest place in the area and had the best prices. When I moved in my apartment was immaculate. It looked like no one had ever even lived here. I was worried about the break ins I read about on this site. I told the management about it before I moved in and told them I wanted a 3rd floor instead of 1st floor apt. They happily moved me to another apt. I have never heard any noise from other guests or been bothered by anyone. I walk my dog frequently and the neighbors are actually pretty friendly. I live alone and I feel safe here. Yeah, sometimes the gate isn't closed. Big deal. That happens everywhere. Overall, this is a quite and peaceful place to live. The staff even brought me a "Happy Friday" gift at work filled with snacks and balloons. From what I can tell there are no "Katrina" people here. As for the trash, it sucks that you have to take it to a dumpster, but I don't notice any trash around the property. I also use the gym and the pool, which are usually pretty empty.

If there were Katrina evacuees there, how would you know? Do you actually think there were no people living in the entire city of New Orleans who weren't underpriveledged? (since that's the stereotype of evacuees.)

Cuter1, you need to wake up and realize that the crime rate in Houston has SOARED since people were so generously taken in last year. Maybe you're part of the problem? Long-time Houstonians are very bitter about all the thankless low-lifes who moved here, and won't go back where they came from. We're not talking racism here, it's REALITY.

cuter1 you are a fool ..lol..you couldn't be more right. However I live in a nearby complex and trust me I've seen tons of violations, shopping carts ...heard gunshot and tires burning rubber, kids walking all times of the day and night. It is a mess over there. I'm so glad I didn't choose to live in that complex. I just pray that God watches over that complex and its tenants because yall sure to need it!

For such a nice apartment there goes the people who live there. You do not contribute to the community with that kind of attitude about people just from where they come from and what devastation they have been through.

I lived here at trust me there were lots of Katrinites that lived there. I don't know if they are still there are not but beware. My car was stolen out of the parking lot and the mgmt taped over the tapes so the investigator didn't get to look at them. The police claim it was an inside job. My neighbors fought so much and threw stuff that I was afaird they would fall through the ceiling. The even fought outside and caused such a rucus that it even scared my cat. We finally had to call the office at 2AM and they did nothing about it...I finally called the police cause I was tired of sleepness nights. I would live underneath a bridge before I lived there again. May God be with you while you live there!
