We moved into the Forest Green Apartments in September of '04, buying the security line. We were fooled. We watched the complex degrade very quickly over the last year. The fact is that the guards at the entrance were often missing. Some were reliable, but others were worse than useless. Several times we had to wait for hours for tow trucks to come remove cars from our assigned spaces because the guard did not keep track of who was coming in. Several other times, particularly at night, there was no guard at the station at all. Once our car was even stolen from the parking lot- the "surveillance" camera is so old and grainy it was worthless.
My husband once drove into the complex and a teenager flashed a gun at him. The tagging has gotten ridiculous. The swimming pool was close more often than open, and when it was open, there were usually several teenagers hanging around, trash talking and using extremely offensive language. I could not take my son to the pool. The gangs are very visable at this complex.
Finally, when we moved out, we were sent a bill for "cleaning and repair" that was way outside of reasonable, and also well outside of the charges the complex quoted us on the inventory list when we moved in. For example, they're charging us $80 to clean four ceiling fans, one of which I cleaned myself before we moved. Other charges for repairs and cleaning were twice or three times as much as quoted on the inventory list. We are disputing these charges, but the managers refuse to work with us. To add insult to injury, the same day they sent us the notice alerting us of the charges, they also turned the bill over to Collections, forcing us to deal with a potential black mark on our credit before we even knew they were charging us anything at all.
Also, while this may have once been a beautiful complex- the grounds have gone to Hell, the sidewalks are uneven and flood in minimal rain, and the plants and bushes look unmaintained and often make passage in certain parts of the complex difficult, especially if carrying children or groceries.
I am very, very disappointed with my experience at the Forest Green Apartments, and I absolutely do not recommend it to anyone. Sure, They may be cheap- But if you get what you pay for- at Forest Green, you're being overcharged. Not to mention the windows are single paned and leak, and the doors are horribly insulate, our electricity bill was often over $200 for a two bedroom apartment- so what you save in rent you pay out in high utility bills.
