I wrote the review back in January (Good for the price) and I'd like to make an update. Good is all you get. Not "great", not even "nice".

First point, ROACHES. I have not bought groceries or cooked (and I love to cook) in almost 4 months now, because of the roaches. I have had the maintenance guys spray 4, yes FOUR times, and I have bombed on my own, and I still have roaches. My pantry is COMPLETELY empty and I still have roaches!!! How is that so' Maybe my neighbors are dirty, but I can t take it anymore. Management doesn t really care, they just say, hey, we'll spray again.

Second point, THE KIDS. They are EVERYWHERE, all hours, all days and times. I made the mistake of getting a unit right near the pool, and summer for me was all hell. The kids were there from sun up to sun down, and then, at night - ADULTS!! There are either groups of guys sitting around loud talking and drinking, or couples attempting to skinny dip on the slide.

Third point, THE ACTUAL PROPERTY. Dirty. Trash pickup is on MWF mornings, but people have trash strewn out on the sidewalks all the time, and not necessarily in bags. Dirty diapers, beer bottles, etc. This is embarrassing when I have company. Another embarrassing point - the balconies/walkways. You will literally feel people walking by because the ground shakes your apartment.

Fourth point, THE UNIT. Inside the unit, yeah, the crown molding and paint color is nice, but not it the paint is painted on top of dirt, which is the case in my kitchen. Whoever is responsible for cleaning the units prior to new residents moving in needs to be dismissed. The walls and windows are as thin as paper. When it rains, these thin windows leak like crazy. They are so thin I can hear conversations CLEARLY when people are walking by or just standing outside. Same with these plastered paper bags they have the nerve to call walls. Whatever your neighbor cooks is what your apartment will smell like for the next few hours. In my case, it s some form of curry and I hate it. You'll also clearly hear the hot water heater's noise every time your neighbor showers. The appliances that they show you in the model unit are like heaven compared to what you actually get. My dishwasher has black mold in the bottom and has never been fully functional. My fridge is old but works fine. The stove. Ahh, the stove. It still has someone s food from 2002 caked around the burners and falls apart pretty regularly.

Oh, if you still decide to move here, please dont use the washers and drying on the property. The washers do not clean, or even spin. They soak your clothes for $1.25 and then you have to end up using like $4 in the dryers that will take forever to dry them.

One more thing, and you can believe this or not. I was lying in bed one morning, and I thought my pillows smelled like smoke. I kept sniffing and sniffing and the closer I got to my bedroom wall (which is adjacent to my neighbors living room wall) the smell kept getting stronger. I COULD SMELL MY NEIGHBORS SMOKING WEED THROUGH THE WALLS! So, just to confirm, I go outside and pass by their open door, and they are sitting on the couch smoking weed like its normal!

That same day, I gave notice that I was not renewing my lease. Maybe I'm just too picky, maybe not. But if you feel like you don t mind these issues, feel free to move into my unit. The roaches will be waiting for you at the end of the month.

LOL. I couldn't help laugh at your review; not because it's so outrageous, but because it's completely accurate to a tee. I've lived there for almost eight or so years--back when it was still Silver Shadow. I remember going to the elementary school right across the street from it too. Good times. My family moved out in '05 when the 'ghetto' wave was at it's peak, thank god. After we left, there was supposedly a shoot-out which made headline news. Not sure if it was in the apartments next door though. Personally, the old maintenance guys were awesome. They were close family friends so we knew how hard they worked. The old management was much more lennent in terms of payment and rules. These new guys now, are strict, will fee you like crazy, and completely rude/snobby when you file a complaint. As for the kids running around, YES! You can totally feel the vibrations even from the kitchen. We had so many pest issues during our time there. We never had any pets, but roaches and ants might as well be ours because they were everywhere. The walls are paper thin too; I realized this a while in. I tend to listen to music when I sleep and I remember my neighbors banging on my walls. Mind you my stereo was on the lowest setting. I also remember how completely crappy the W/D were too. There was always at least two washers out of four that was broken. And people were even drying/washing their shoes! So yes, don't bother with the W/D in your units if you're hoping for some clean clothes after. If you're looking for a safe neighborhood, look elsewhere. This place is ghetto central. Thugs and druggies everywhere. Don't be surprised if you overhear them dealing outside your door.
