If Safety is a concern...

I would not recommend moving here. My apartment was broken into on the 3rd floor of the Gables. My friends vehicle was also broken into in the parking lot. I would recommend getting an alarm system in your apartment if you feel the need to move to this complex.

Crime can happen anywhere. You can not blame the community because you had a break-in. We live in the city and that is what happens. This community has entry and exit codes and has a security officer on property. Most communities don't even have that to offer. You can not blame the community once again. I have not had any issues living here but if I did I would blame the person not the property. I have lived many placesand had some issues but not here. I don't ever leave anything showing in my car.

Anonymous Above obviously does not know what they are talking about. The gates use codes yes, but as the apartment management says in letters they send out after break-ins, "The gates are not for security"... Then what are they there for? Actually they no longer send in letters after break-ins... but we did receive a letter informing us that they were proud to announce they were offering a discount for renters insurance. They also pointed out in the letter that items in your car are not covered by your auto insurance. I find this interesting that we receive this right after a few car burglaries and three cars in the parking lot (two on the garage roof and one by the entrance gate) had their wheels and tires stolen and left on blocks. Instead of solving the problem they are capitalizing on it. As for the "security officer" there is no such person. There is an hpd officer that lives in the complex, but he does not patrol the grounds, he will occasionally park his patrol car in the apartments, but this has not deterred any vandalism, or theft. I lived in this apartment several years ago, moved away for a few years and came back. The theft of the tires and wheels was happening back then, but not to the extent it happens today. I saw it happen twice back then. Several times in the last two years or so. I do have to say that I do agree, we live in the city and crime is going to happen... But I do think the mgmt or company could take additional steps to prevent it. After all though, most of the apartments i have lived in (no matter how nice) have poor management and staff, that are usually just there for a paycheck and care nothing of the tenants of the apartments. On the flipside, the apartments are nice, clean, quite, nice neighbors, great pool, and I enjoy living here minus dealing with management and staff (typical) and the theft in the parking lot. If they could fix the two major problems i'd give this place a 95% rating. Maintnance is slow to non existant unless an emergency and pricing has risen quite a bit... fix those and it would be 100% :)

I always take my crack pipe out of the car when I come home. That way no one steals it. If somebody took your pipe, you only have yourself to blame.

Shop around before you move to Cityscape. There are much nicer apartments for the price, that do offer a nightly patrolman (and he actually does his job).
