Very deceiving apartment complex

In this apartment complex, they bragged about brand new wooden floors and granite counters in the "upgraded units". Don't believe their spiel. Nothing else about the apartment complex has been improved or repaired since the place was first constructed. The toilet and the shower in my apartment leak, and my refrigerator is held together with a copious amount of duct tape that I didn't notice until I pulled out a shelf to make some more room. The wood floor is of the lowest quality, and the granite counter was installed poorly. There's many ill fitting pieces and gaps between the counter and the wall. Parking spots are few and far between, and they intentionally block off roughly half the spaces as "premium" spots that you can buy for an additional $15 a month. The problem is, the remaining free parking spots are so miserably small and far apart that its almost worth it, just to spare yourself the hassle.
I will compliment the basketball hoop they have in the main office. Its the first indoor basketball court I've seen in an apartment complex, and I've used it a few times. They also offer a red box type service inside, which is also handy. The staff is generally helpful and reasonable. They've also handled any problems I had quickly and efficiently.
All in all this is a run down apartment complex sitting on its last legs. I would be very careful to note the date of any reviews, because any made before Hurricane Ike came through will not properly reveal the shabby state of the property. I feel tricked moving in, and I'm planning on breaking my lease 1 month into it to get out.
Do not move in here, ever.

I wouldn't agree completely, though I sympathise with much of what you say. The complex hosts different folks. No one expected Ike, but the current (always changing) management did what they had to to meet their insurance claim requirements. In my experience this is not "a run down apartment ... on its last legs." This is an average Houston metropolitan sucky apartment. It is surrounded by some very ghetto apartments and it manages to maintain some nice folks. From speaking with neighbours, I think that everyone's experience is different as far as the wood floors type junk goes.
In short, at Westheimer and Hayes, a gal was shot in the head whilst pumping gas and the guy got away on foot. That's where we live. This certainly ain't Canada. "Run down" and "on its last legs," I think is disingenuous. Sucky would be right. Not a bad value as long as you don't get suckered into paying more than six hundred bucks for it.I wouldn't agree completely, though I sympathise with much of what you say.
