Hello,

My question is about the apartment that my daughter lives in. On 03/12/08 while she was at work, her apartment was broken into thru her bedroom window.

She filed a police report and contacted the office staff to report the incident and to request that her broken window be replaced.

The apartment maintenance showed up two hours later and took measurements. He left and returned with a large board to nail over the window.

I was told that he would have to order the window. I took off from work today because I do not want to risk leaving with just a board over my window. My daughter called the office on 3 occasions today to speak with the manager and was told that she was busy.

I called and asked for her as well and after numerous questions, I was put on hold and then told that she was busy. I spoke with the office staff named Bonnie. I explained the seriousness of replacing the window and was assured that it would be replaced today. It is now 3:15pm on 03/13/08 and getting ready to storm and the window still have not been replaced. Is this legal' I would think that her safety is an issue.

The complex has security but they are never there. They check in for duty and then leave the complex. When the police officer showed up to take my burglary report, he had to leave his squad car at the front gate and walk to my apartment because there is no way for them to enter. I was told that an officer was dispatched to my apartment earlier but could not gain entry so he left. This is horrible. What should my daughter do in a situation like this' Who should she contact' Your help is desperately needed as she has 3 small children and I fear for their safety.

She contemplated moving but was told she could not break her lease even if her safety was compromised.

Thank you in advance,

Have a great day,

Sherry Lindley

Everything you wrote is true. I thought that by law that management here should notify residents of any and all crimes committed on the property but they have been so inconsistent with that. We normally hear about crimes here by word of mouth. Current management here is trying but not hard enough--quite a few residents have left or have been evicted. Some if not most of the apartments here are vacant now. The current manager, Tina appears to be professional but is rather unconcerned about tenant problems. She seems to cater more to the latino residents! If you decide to move in Greenhouse Patio here are some of the problems that you will experience:water being turned off with no warning;no hot water;air conditioning problems etc! The complex is old and needs some refurbishing. Even when you put your request in writing for a maintenance issue, their response time is pathetic. You have to call over and over again to get them to fix the problem. It is sad really. After all, none of the management staff lives on property so they could care less? There is no 24 hour maintenance anymore! The 24 hour answering service staff can be rude and there are times when the phone is left off the hook. There are hard working honest residents here like myself living here. BUt we do not feel appreciated. It was better when Debra(manager)and Anna(assistant manager) worked here. They cared about their residents. For the first time in x amount of years I am seriously contemplating moving out(and with a bang if I can get channel 2 news to do a special broadcast). The only good thing about this complex now is that maintenance is doing an excellent job with landscaping or the outside property. It will be nice if they can do the same work with the actual apartments. A paint job for example would be nice or a new carpet for a tennant over 5 years. I will or will not advise anyone to move here but I must mention that your safety here in some regard depends on the company that you keep. The bible advises us to love our neighbor as thyself BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT U SHOULD INVITE THEM INTO YOUR APARTMENT. U MIGHT COME HOME ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT YOU HAVB BEEN ROBBED. And from what I see, my three newest residents are latinos. Wow! before you know it they might change the name of the complex from Greenhouse Patio to Little Mexico! I did not realize that the flags I saw on west airport at the main entrance to the complex a few weeks ago was the Mexican flag. (ADVICE: YOU NEED TO CONTACT AMY DAVIS AT CHANNEL 2 NEWS AT 713-778-4903 AND CONTACT THAT THE HOUSTON APARTMENT ASSOCIATION.
