When I first moved in I loved the place. Now I can not wait to be able to move out. The grounds were spotless, the place beautiful. Now I see trash on the ground everyday. The office staff was very friendly. Now with the new staff it is a horror. Some are rude, one of them kept a wedding ring that was turned in, it was not hers. Any needed repair work use to get done that very day. Now it takes several days to get repairs. My AC has been worked on several times and it still does not cool my place down.
I use to feel safe enough at night that I could go out at midnight and walk to the mailbox. Now it is not. I have seen people pee out in the open several times. There is no security. Apartments get broken into day and night. Several cars have been broken into. People from the rat hole apartment complex across the street come over to swim in the pools here. There are several lights out at night in the parking lot. One week the lights for the mail box area was out for over a week. The gate is broken almost once a week. Anyone can drive through. When i express my concerns of it I was told that even fixed that the gate would not keep out the criminals if they wanted in. They showed no concern for the residents safety. Why should they, they work here they do not live here. Some of the old staff lived here while the worked in the office. They cared about how safe this place was and how it looked.
It use to be so quiet here that you never hear the cars in the parking lot. Now I hear music blasting from the cars in the parking lot all hours of the day and night. The office said that they can do nothing and that I need to call the police about it.
The apartment is spending money fixing up the place. They chopped a lot of old trees, many of them oaks over 30 years old. There use to be a lot of shade and it was very nice to walk around during the day. Now it is like a oven here. The grounds were spruce up around the office and the unit that they have to show possible renters. The back half of the units lost a lot of nice trees but nothing put in to make it look nice. Small 5 foot tall palm trees were put in around the office and big pool. They do not make up for the over 40 foot tall trees that they cut down. There was a lot of nice plants put in at the big pool. The smaller one looks horrible with no grounds work done.
They have contractors painting the buildings. None of them speak English. When they paint the patios they get paint spray all over the items. They do not cover items on patios when they paint. They cover the cars with old torn covers that have more holes then Swiss cheese. The contractors have even broken items on the patios.
I talked, a week ago, to ------ about my concerns of the painters causing damage to items on the patio. She said that they can do nothing because they are contractors and do not work for them. Excuse me but if they are doing work on the grounds and getting paid for it then they do work for the complex. ------ use to be friendly. When they had a staff change she was the only one left. Now she is very unfriendly and rarely has time to talk to the residents.
When they came to my patio to paint they knocked one of my big tomato plants. Dirt was all over the patio and several of the branches were broken. This was the second time that my plants have been damaged by them. I called the office and they did not seem concern. I found the painter and instead of yelling and demand money to replace the plant. I decided to give the plant to him and tell him to be careful next time. He did not understand English so I called the office to see if someone spoke Spanish. Some one did but did not want to help because she thought I was trying to cause problems.
Later I went to the office to speak to ------. She took her time to speak to me and asked a few time if someone else could help me. I said no and waited. When I did speak to her she was very rude to me. She first said that my plant was not broke. Then she said that people will be inconvenienced at times with the painting. It was not an inconvenience that the plant was broke. It was destruction of my property. She said that it was just a plant, no big deal. She said that I should of kept the plants in my closet so my cat would not eat them. They have been painting on the unit off and on for 2 weeks. To keep them in the closet that long would kill them.
To put it short she did not care that my plants were being destroyed. She said that they were just plants. They are herbs and edible plants not just plants. She threw me out of the office and said for me to have my husband call her. She knows that he works nights and sleeps during the day. It someone damaged her items it would not be just an inconvenience, it would be destruction of her property. I do not have the money to replace my items every time someone working for the apartments gets careless and damages my stuff.
When the Apartments were bought by Mid-America Apartment Communities things went down hill. The rent was jacked up by $200 or more. They said that you were getting a good deal. But when new people moved in their rent was lower then what we were paying before Mid-America took over. A lot of people moved out when their lease was up. I wanted to move but had no money cover the move or the deposit at a new apartment. I am stuck here for now.
I have lived at many apartments and this use to be the best place ever ever lived at. I have met with several others renters here and they are also not happy happy with this place. When I first moved in I was so happy with the place and wrote a great review for here. I have now taken it back and in place of it is this new one on the place.

I totally feel your pain, and agree with what your going through. I am not one to judge a book by its cover, however some of the new residents look like gang members or drug dealers because of there manner of dress, and the VERY FACT that they are drinking and smoking weed in public! It's very obvious they are not performing criminal background checks. This place is seriously deteriorating!
