The Houston House used to be such a great place to live. However, shortly after I moved in it was clear that the building was on a steady decline. We no longer have a heated swimming pool, air-conditioned workout room, secure parking, limited guest access to the building, paid electricity or basketball & racquet ball court.

Over the past two years the air-conditioning system has been limping along on 1 to 2 chilling towers. The management and owning partners refuse to allocate the money required to bring the system up to standard nor do they perform routine maintenance required to insure that the system is dependable. For the past 24 months we have been fighting increased plumbing challenges and an infestation of roaches, fleas and fire ants. Management, maintenance and the general staff have grown complacent with the current stature of the building. Therefore most if not all of your maintenance and building concerns fall on deaf ears.

One thing for sure is that the Houston House has some of the finest views in downtown and the location is outstanding if you work in the downtown area. I keep holding out with the hopes that someone will buy the building and bring it back to it's previous grandeur.

I agree 100%. The guy who runs the laundry service was evicted from his apartment for nonpayment of rent and spends many nights living in the laundry room beyond the closed dry cleaning section. It was reported to management and nonthing was done. This past month has seen transients hanging out in the weight room and hiding out in a vacant apartment. This was reported to the apathetic front desk and their comment was "not my job, call the police", typical of the people who now control our security. This was once a nice place to live but management has let it go to seed. I am glad my lease is up soon. It is really time to move on.
