Check about Loud Children

This is a great place if you do not have loud neighbors above you. There are more children here than you would think with no amenities for children. I moved in only to find horrible neighbors that are loud at all hours of the day and night. The child is allowed to jump and run at any time. The parents are also stompers. They drop things on the floor at any time. The neighbors have been made aware of the problem and continue to do as they wish. I go through times of sleep deprivation. (A problem I have never had.) The worst is the management will do nothing. They asked me to move to another apartment on site, but did not approach the neighbors with the same. Texas has a "right to peace and quiet" clause. I am in the process of filing a claim with the Apartment Renters Association. I am just sick about this mistake of moving here and paying such high rent and can't even sleep.
If you have quiet neighbors it would be lovely here.
PS. I have a neighbor that would say not to be close to the garage as car alarms are some times an issue.

7/7/07 As a follow-up to my first entry above: When I moved in I was told the current renters just wanted another apartment within the complex. I asked about the noise and they said the move was not about the noise upstairs. However, I recently met the previous renters of my apt. and they said it was indeed because of the noise above. I also asked if they had concrete floors and was told yes. Well, they do not. The foors are plywood with a thin coat of concrete. All the difference in the world in noise. I could not even sleep. Equity raised my rent by $150 and with the noise, I just moved at the end of my lease. Live at Post Oak Park again & love it. You can do better for the price and service.

How could Equity raise your rent $150 in July o7? They sold the proprty to TVO in 03/07. I think you mean TVO raised your rent $150.

I had almost exactly the same experience. This apartment complex will do nothing regarding the noise complaints and you’ll have to deal with it by buying plenty of ear plugs, sleeping only on weekends when your neighbors are out of town, or by moving out. They should not claim that there’s only one person in the apartment above yours, when in reality it’s more then one plus kids and pets that make noise, drop things and play loud TV 24/7. In the short run it’s easier for the office not to protect your rights and do nothing about the noise, but in the long run it's unreasonable unless they prefer to have inconsiderate and noisy tenants.
