(Lakeside Place Apartments) I moved in 11 months ago,,,,at first it was a nice place, great neighbor's, I felt safe on premise, etc,,,,,Unfortunatley, after hurricane Katrina, everything has gone down hill...A few of the neighbor's that had lived here for 3 year's moved out, and a bunch of hood rat's moved in,,,,,I have personally had one incident when I had to try and help a lady save her son from being kidnapped......the man got away because the front gate was broken( which is a regular occurence), and wide open, so he was able to escape easily......there has been several reports of people being held up by gun, and robbed.........I have called the police numerous times in the past months due to (katrina) neighbor's playing music too loud, gathering in parking lot, selling drug's out of apartment, etc,,,,,,I have recently spoken to a HPD officer, a friend of a friend, and he told me to get the hell out of here, he said they (police) are called to this apartment complex atleast 3 times a night....he also said that it wasn't safe for an attractive white girl to even be visiting me here,,,,
I have notified the office, numerous time's of my problem's on premise, and they have never done anything to correct the problem's,,,Finally they told me,,,,,O, well we don't have any record of complaints...but we will make sure this one is documented,,,,,My lease is up next month, and I am counting the days, hopefully I won't be robbed, or have any other problems while I am here,,,,,,,
On another note, Wilcrest, and all of the apartment's have gone down hill, almost all of the businesses on wilcrest, from briar forest to memorial have been robbed at gun point, and the police can't do anything about it, due to understaffing, and the growing rate of crime in this area,,,,,
I am moving out, and I can't wait,,,,!!!!!

I live here as well, we have been here for over a year and just signed another lease. Safety wise we have been happy. We did have to complain numerous times about the back gate being broken by our area, but they did fix it. Unfortunately they fixed it after an incident and we confronted them and told them the gate has been broken and according to them in their letter to the residents it had been working properly.

I know for a fact after the hurricane this apartment complex did not take the Hurricane vouchers, so if we had evacuees they are paying the rent. My best friend is a cop who patrols this area and he says he rarely has to come to our complex. It is all the other apartments at Wilcrest and Briarforest and Lakeside Place and Briarforest that have all the problems.

Also my husband installs security for a living, so we do have an active alarm system and I do use it. I feel very safe and just take precautions for my own safety.

In response to the first posting. This is totally made up incidents. All you have to do is get a call report from HPD (which is free and public records) to see there is very , very few calls to this address. This property DID NOT change the selection criteria after the hurricane. There has never been any kind of kidnapping attempt. One person was robbed here in the last year after the resident opened the locked gate for them... All you have to do is go to the houston crime stats website and see for yourself . Don't believe some posting from someone that was most likely evicted and mad at the management.

If you are going to tell a story at least tell it right! No was kidnap..The resident opened the gate for them. He was crazy it was his fault. NEVER OPEN A GATE FOR SOMEONE YOU DON'T KNOW WALK AWAY. THEN THERE IS NO PROBLEM... GET IT..
