Lakeside Place Apartments
AVERAGE RATING

This place is not a very good place to live.
1. When I first moved in, I had two leasing agents lie to me about my apartment, one even going as far as to tell me that she was the assistant manager which I later found out she was not.
2. Maintenance issues are either taking care of in a timely manner, or you have to continuously make sure that the work order was put it in, so I guess it is kind of luck of the draw.
3. Parking is horrific. I pay the 15 bucks for the covered parking but if I ever want to have guests over, generally there is no parking for them.
4. I do not know about the other apartments, but when I use the shower, the temperature of the water changes from hot to cold and back and forth at least 80% of the time. It make taking a shower very stressful.
5. I have not had any noise problems because I am in an upstairs unit with no one above me.
6. What people say about the complex going down after Katrina is true. Even if they did not accept the voucher, that does not mean that New Orleans scum is not living here. My neighbor got aproached in the parking lot and when the man saw someone else coming, he stepped away from her and tried to act like he was trying to get into a car. She now carries a stick when she walks her dog at night. It is true that there is a lot of crime. I know people say to check the HPD statistics but not everyone reports problems, keep that in mind. It is also very unnerving to see groups of people standing in the street late, late at night. That may just be me, but safety is one of the biggest reasons I am leaving here.
7. Because this is an older complex, things do tend to break easier. I also live on the top floor with no one below me. The air conditioner units are on the roofs. Therefore, in the middle of summer, I have my thermostat set at 65 bt my apartment stays between 75 and 85 during the day. When I come home from work, it is very uncomfortable to sit in an 80 degree room when I want to relax.
SO basically, if you cannot afford anything else, then by all means rent from here but you will be unhappy. If you have to pay an extra hundred bucks to live somewhere else or have to spend more time looking, I would highly suggest it.

Amen to that! As an ex-tenant I would make a couple of other suggestions IF YOU MUST lease an apartment here. First, do not even consider the ground floor (or second floor if it's a three story). The floors are thinner than the walls!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trust me on this. I was in a 12 month NIGHTMARE lease on the ground floor. Every step the upstairs neighbors took in the kitchen sounded like jumps! If ANYTHING was dropped on the floor in their unit, it sounded like a BOOM. We heard every sneeze, and every conversation. It was literally like living in a cheap motel for a year. Second, walk the EXACT unit you will live in BEFORE SIGNING THE LEASE. Wait until the promises are met!! The leasing office staff is incompetent and untrustworthy. They bait and switch, and in my case, had not done adequate cleaning before I picked up my keys. There was a cracked mirror 3 weeks before move-in that they forgot to replace. They already had a signed lease so I was put on the list behind everyone else to get the f-ing move-in repairs done!!!!!!!!! They're really ignorant in the office.

This management company deliberately moves it's leasing/management staff to other properties frequently to AVOID ACCOUNTABILITY. You've all heard their excuses: "well, she doesn't work here any more, and I can't find your request in the file," or "he works at another property now, and there's no record of what he promised you." What BULL**IT!!! It's completely deliberate to avoid accountability to IT'S OWN tenants. THIS COMPANY IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND HAS NO INTEGRITY! You don't need this place, people.

I'm laughing HARD now. There is NOTHING pronto about ANYTHING the leasing office manager/staff does---NOTHING. Not now, not ever. Management is incompetent here.

We are no longer having a problem with the staff as I stated above, I called twice this week with issues and they were out within 3 hours both times. Much better.

I don't believe any of this. I can't hear anything my apartment is very quite. Sounds like some people didn't pay rent on time or didn't obey rules which every apartment has. CJSAMS
