I lived at Lakeside for 2 years and have seen the service go down hill in the last 9 months. I don't know if they are too busy to keep up or they just have bad employees, but it takes forever to get anything fixed and when they do fix it it's a half-done job.
Also, don't ever call for a maintenance problem, you have to go into the office or they may not write up your service ticket. I had a leak in the ceiling from a broken pipe for 3 days before anyone came to fix it (this has happened 5 times in the last year). When they did show up, they left a soggy hole in the ceiling for 2 weeks before anyone came to fix the sheetrock.
Just as a side note, almost every apartment complex in Houston considers air conditioners going out an emergency- Lakeside Place does not! It took 3 days to get the a/c fixed both times it went out.
If you plan to rent here even after reading the reviews, make sure to get a copy of the lease in writing, as well as a copy of the walk through when you move in and move out. Also get copies of maintenance requests and keep everything on file.
Aimco will try to charge you for everything. Also, "normal wear and tear" means nothing, they expect the apartment to be in the exact same condition moving out as moving in. They actually wanted to charge me for "holes" in the walls where my pictures had hung.
Last note on the office staff- The manager doesn't care, nor do the staff members. Be prepared to be treated badly when you need anything, request anything, or... well, anything.
