If you want an HONEST explanation of this place...

I moved to Texas in July and this was my first apartment. I know people mostly report complaints on this website. This is an honest explanation of how this place really is... no opinions, just facts.
My first night, the new stove did not work. I went to the office to ask to have it fixed. It took a day for them to fix it. I thought that was good.
The second night, I brought a co-worker with me to see my new place. When we went around to the bathroom, there was about an inch of water that had flooded from the upstairs. I called the emergency number and left a message. When I was called back by the maintenance man, I could barely understand what he was saying. I had to ask him to repeat himself many times to figure it out. He did not come by that night to fix it. It took them the whole next day to come by and look at it. Then it took many days for them to clean the carpet.
The very next week, I'm lying in bed and I hear water noises in the bathroom. I went to check out what was going on and discovered that my bathroom sink was full and overflowing with backed up wastewater. I immediatley called the emergency number and left a message. Again, when I was called back, the man was very hard to understand. He told me I would have to just deal with it and he would look at it tomorrow and that the people upstairs are running the dishwasher. So, that did not solve the problem. Again, it took days to fix the problem, and even longer to clean the mess that the waste water made. To that fact, they never did finish cleaning it.
Then my first rent check was due. I paid early and in full. The first of the month rolls by, and a couple days pass without incident. To my surprise, when I got home, there was a notice on my door telling me that my rent was past due and they were going to evict me if I didn't pay it and the overdue charges. Alarmed at this, I went through my accounts and got the proof of payment and verified that the check had cleared. I confronted the office and was told that many of the checks were misapplied in their accounting ledger. This shows the lack of responsibility and competency of this office.
I have requested to be put on the list for a covered parking space since I moved in. I have noticed that new residents have parking spaces before I do. I'm not happy about that. I have had to drive around for long periods of time for a space ANYWHERE in the complex, but ended up on the street outside the complex illegally. I haven't gotten a ticket yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if I get one tonight. Furthermore, while driving around the complex, it seems that at least 33-50% of the assigned spaces are unoccupied. There is something wrong. I had asked the office before and was told the girl that takes care of covered spaces only has 20 minutes a week to work on it. That is no excuse. She needs to make the time.
After the hurricane, I had to flee my apartment. I had to ask daily when they would begin repairing my apartment. The roof had leaked majorly and flooded my first floor apartment. It took 2 weeks for progress to begin. After that, it took two more weeks for them to finish the work. One good thing I will say is they had a cleaning service come in and clean up the mess that was left. Unfortunately, the new walls, carpet, and paint did not eliminate the moldy musty smell that has been in the apartment since day one.
There is garbage outside daily at every turn. They pick up garbage many times a week. We are told not to put it out at night and not on certain days. The bad residents do anyway. So every morning, I have to walk past piles of garbage on my way to my car. On my way back at night, I have to walk through more piles of garbage. It's disgusting. And, I saw one guy get out of his truck and try to throw his beer can over the fence. He missed and it landed in the parking lot. Instead of picking it up, he just left it there. It's not like it is that difficult to put it in the designated garbage areas... they're literally everywhere. These are the kind of inconsiderate slobs that live here. I'm sorry for the good people that got suckered into this place by the prices.
Why did I move here you ask' I did not have the time to look around. I will be breaking my lease early to get out of here. I am very disappointed. I thought it was good for the price, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Yeah be careful with parking there in the street every now and then cops come around and give you tickets and it took me from April until October of going to court over a stupid $105 parking ticket to get it taken care of and that is just one more thing that has made me annoyed at the apartments because when I talked to them about it they were like there is plenty of available parking and why can't people just suck it up and get a spot it is only $30. That is fine customer service. I also keep going into the leasing office to get a different parking spot because I pay $30 and people keep parking in it and it is pretty far from my apartment and they keep blocking me in. We all know how there is only one lady that can handle the stupid parking issue which is ridiculous and she said she thinks someone took her parking book on vacation w/them? That is really incompetent. She wouldn't let me speak with the manager even when I call and she told me she would call me about the parking issue and never did. So, I went back in there and she looked bored to tears while I was talking( I had a rant about them fixing the supplies and not the parking issue) and said she would call me when she had the book of parking spaces. I think their motto is ignore something until it goes away! UGH.

I've been asking for an assigned spot since August. But if they don't want my $30 that bad then oh well. A lot of the spots are empty anyway so I never park on the street. I have a 1 year old. I'll park in spots that I know are empty & leave a note on my car if I'm not sure. I lived at another AIMCO community before this one and their customer service was SO much better.

I hope you find a spot close to you soon. I know parking is hell if you are on the west side facing Wilcrest.
