The apartments are nice, quiet and decent. I liked the physical apartments themselves but the incompetent office staff literally had me in tears at times. I rented a 3 bedroom town home with some roommates for $1124 per month. We added 4 carports @ $30 per month each (big mistake because you can t cancel them until the lease is up). We were told the carports were included in the $1124 and that would be the total amount due every month so we paid that amount for the first 3 months then got a bill stating we owed $1600 and had to pay it immediately or we would get evicted! I came to the office and spoke to Lara Shaw. She said the $1124 was for the rent only. The carports were additional, the trash was additional, the water was additional, and the sewer was additional. She said they are all separate . So when I told her I could only pay the rent for now, I d pay the additional separate things later, she told me she couldn t accept a partial rent payment. THE RENT WASN T PARTIAL, ONLY THE UTILITES AND CARPORTS WERE. So after she just told me it was all separate she turned around and told me they were all together and had to be paid together including late charges. I told her we were never explained that when we signed the contract and were told it was all included. Her response was Did you get that in writing' I DIDN T KNOW I WOULD HAVE TO GET EVERY CONVERSATION I HAD WITH THE OFFICE PERSONNEL IN WRITING!

The glorious day came when our contract was up. We never received our last month s bill and it was already the 3rd of the month (rent paid after the 3rd is late). I went to Lara Shaw and asked how much we owed, she looked it up on her little computer and said we owed a prorated amount of $606.38. I asked her to make sure that was the TOTAL amount we owed because I didn t want to get charged late fees or have them come back and claim we owed more. She assured me it was the total amount. I asked her to give me that amount in writing and sign it, OF COURSE she wouldn t do it. Now I know why.

I just got a letter in the mail stating they kept our deposit and now require $160 more because the last month s rent total was $766.

Bottom line: IF YOU WALK INTO THE OFFICE AND SEE LARA SHAW STILL WORKING THERE, TURN AROUND AND RUN!!!

I sincerely doubt this. First off 4 parking stalls are 4*$30=$120, 120 1124=1244. I gaurantee that the water, sewer and trash was not $356. Mine is usually around $20. Second, Parking is a huge problem for these people so I am about 100% sure that they explained to you that the stalls were an extra $30 when you moved in as I have NEVER met anyone who didn't know that. As far as your last months, Surprising that you didn't get the total in writing considering that you had already been burned once. Yes, the office staff is occasionally stupid and they are always surly and un-friendly but they sure as ---- aren't going to do what this person said. What a tool.

Lakeside place apartments BLOW. The leasing office is a f'king joke, those ppl in there could care less about the residents. I have lived here for 2 yrs.....water goes off periodically...sometimes there is only cold water... Parking, as previously stated, is RIDICULOUS anytime after 8pm. They allow tow truck drivers to come in like f'king vultures. I have MOLD growing in my apartment, they came to "FIX" it.....by spray painting over it. Yeah, good job of "Fixing" .... I turned my rent on the 2nd a couple of months ago....to have an EVICTION notice placed on my door on the 4th. Whatever kind of manager she is: jennifer? she is a retard and shouldnt be employed by anyone. The Apartment Manager changes every 2-3 months.. I know of at least 4 since ive been here... It's the best of the worst in the area.

Bee-Frank, the office staff doesn't advise you of anything. Everything I learned about living there came from other residents. They didn't tell me anything about paid parking. They didn't tell me anything about how to get in the locked (HA) walk-thru gates. I had to ask other residents and they told me there was a key and wasn't I given one. I had to go back to the office and beg for a key. I am thankful every day that I'm out of that place. I could go on and on about the crack pipe I found on the sidewalk outside of my apartment (I had never seen one before in my life), the used condoms that were constantly left on the ground, the drug deals that I constantly saw taking place, and the used Tampax holders that I saw on the sidewalks not once but twice (yes, you read correctly). Slums...plain and simple.
