Comes with consequences

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2007

I lived at Lanesborough for approximately 3 years. I moved there because the property looked nice and was in a convenient location for me. The rent my first year was $680, so the price was right too. The first two years had fewer problems than the third year. But maybe that is because it's been awhile so I don't remember the first years that well. I lived on the first floor and had problems with large (1-2 inch) roaches. When my microwave broke it took an entire month to get a new one. The walls in the apartment are very thin. I could always hear the neighbors upstairs walking around. More problematic was the neighbor who like to have sex at 2 in the morning. There was a very foul odor from the neighbor next door's cooking, and it took over 2 months to resolve the problem, which was never corrected properly. My monthly water bill ranged from $20 - $25; now, at my new place, I receive my bills from the City of Houston and they range from $9 - $13. I am convinced that I was billed for the water which went to the sprinkler system, most of which created enormous mud puddles in the parking garage. The security gates were often broken. I would see flyers posted about cars that were broken into. Equipment in the gym was often broken (especially my favorite elliptical machines). The people in the leasing office almost never answered the phones and never returned messages--you had to physically go to the trailer to speak to anyone. Lanesborough also retained the majority of my security deposit. When I contested this, they sent low resolution photos that showed no damage. They also charged me for an extra day which I did not occupy the apartment. Future tenants should probably not expect to get the security deposit back. Lanesborough may look nice from the outside, but has its problems on the inside.

Not only did we also not get our deposit back, we were charged for them to take the photos!
