I have been living here for about 8 months and I can not wait to move out. I truly hope someone from Richdale reads this!
Pros:
Close to the metro rail (med center)
Somewhat Cheap ($1200 for a 2 bedroom)
Cons:
POOR POOR management - the gate rarely works.. and despite complaints, they do not fix it. The covered parking lot in front of building 13 has been down/destroyed since hurrican Ike!!! They say that they can not fix it because it is $50k. This blows my mind. It is unsafe for the people that live here and is a complete embarassment. The people who work in the office are lazy and rude. I had to stand on a chair to pick up my package. They are using a room in the gym because their trailor is broken and not repaired yet due to Ike so they just have packages everywhere (on very high shelves!). I should also say they never clean the place up... the grounds are filthy!! The trash bins outside are also always full with garbage sitting around them. GROSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! They also enter your apartment and do not leave you notice.
Med students/Residents/other med staff sneak in in the morning to park here and ride the rail.
SUCKERS!!!!!!!

The electricity bill is outrageous.
Water leaks in every time it rains!
We just had a break in (2/19/09)
There is only 1 entrace gate-code to get into the apartment yet there are 3 entrances!! It is down right impossible for guests to get in. I have to walk to the gate with my clicker to let guests in. The gate code that is present at the one gate has only worked like 1 week the entire time that I have been here.
There are creepy guys that sit at the pools that smell like weed and do not look like they live here.
It is very noisy (you can hear noise from upstairs, downstairs and to your sides.

I agree, management is really bad. The fact that Ike damage has not been repaired almost 6 months later is pathetic. And the gate-code boxes were installed months ago but still don't work. When I asked a couple weeks ago, the office manager assured me they "are working on it." Right... My electric bill is sky-high as well. The strange thing is that it stays pretty much the same whether I use AC or not. The appliances and/or electric connections must be old and inefficient. Otherwise, there is no reason for my electric bill to be just as high in December (without AC or heat on) as it is in July. Maybe the management takes a cut of the electric bill just like they do with cable. The management will tell you that you have to get cable through them, and then charge you $40/month for basic cable. They will tell you that it's a better deal, but it is actually more expensive than if you got cable directly through Comcast. How management can get away with this, I'm not sure. I look forward to moving out when my lease expires this summer. Unfortunately, there will be another batch of residents/med students/nursing and PA students that will move in next summer because they don't know how bad the management is here.
