I feel many of the reviews here have been overly harsh on the Lanesborough. I lived there for four years, and my primary complaint was the office staff. Some people in there were pleasant to deal with, but there were others who were pretty curt and clearly did not appreciate the business you were giving them. 2 people who were staff were quite condescending. However, other staff members and maintenance repair staff were always quite friendly and made my Lanesborough experience enjoyable. This complex is very popular with the medical center crowd and there are many diligent students/younger people. It generally felt very safe, though management did fire all the guards and the gates do break quite often. My unit was nice, but the included washer/dryer was quite small. So, you had to do laundry twice as often. Maintenance was always quite good, I felt they were friendly and provided quality work. Lanesborough has not completely repaired itself to its former self prior to the Hurricane, but I thought the repairs up to this point were very reasonable. You should give this place a look if the location is well suited for your purposes. They definitely charge a premium for being on the Metrorail, and for those who do not know, the rail can get very crowded both going in and out of the medical center to Lanesborough. This complex has some very nice amenities. The gym is really high quality, there were 2 nice pools on my side of the complex, and there are many covered carport parking spots/parking garages. There were occasional reports of break-ins, and Houston definitely has its share of petty thefts. Overall, I found rent to be somewhat high, and the Lanesborough's value largely rests on its proximity to the rail. If you need the train, this may be the most convenient option.
