Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
I'm a current resident, I actually renewed my lease about a month ago. At first I was only planning to stay here for 6 months and then leave. I was in a bit of a hurry to find a place because I was starting my first semester at U of H. I didn't get a chance to look around as much as I'd like to because I'm also from Austin.
I had picked up an apartmentguide book and I had looked at a few before this one, it was well in my price range but I wasn't too sure about the area. It was my first time away from home, living alone, being in a new city and a new school;both myself and my parents were very nervous(mainly my parents). They weren't too sure about the area either but it was close to school, cheap, close to a lot of stores, the apartment is roomy and they really liked the fact that a lot of students were living here and the security was so tight.
My intent was to only stay for 6 months, giving me plenty of time to look for a better area. Well, I'm still here and I like it. I haven't been able to find a nice apartment with as good of a rating as this place for my price range.
It's very quiet, which I love. The drive way for the parking area isn't that great but they make an effort to fill in the potholes, the covering for the parking is in shape at least(I've seen 10 times worse in nearby apartments). Maintenance are always on top of things. I've had nothing but good service from the office people and the dvd rental place. The security is very tight, which is great because I always feel safe within these walls. The fitness center is a lot smaller than I had pictured it but it doesn't affect me (I can always work out at UH). I've had some minor ant and roach problems but I call the maintenance people and they got right on it. They're taking care of it even when I'm not here (I don't even have to ask). My neighbors are friendly...I think. I haven't actually met any of them, they're so quiet it makes me wonder if I have neighbors.
It's great for students because it's affordable, nice, safe, close to school, tons of stores and downtown.
I'd totally recommend it to anyone on a budget. I've been living here a year now and I still consider myself an Austin girl, I don't consider Houston my home but I do call LV home. :)
It's my home away from home.
