Never again!

Long story short - illegal aliens live all around this area, which my boyfriend used to refer to as "El Salvador" or "Little Mexico." My car was broken into several times, and my friend who came to visit for about 45 minutes had her car dashboard DESTROYED and her expensive stereo system and back speakers stolen. There was actually a police station ACROSS THE STREET (on Renwick Dr), yet when I called the police, it took them forever to get there. Once they actually came 10 HOURS after my call!!! God forbid someone break into your apartment and try to kill you - your dead body will be stiff and cold before the cops decide to put down the doughnuts and come. Simply put - when you live around illegals and other criminals, you get NO police protection. The guards here are a JOKE. My car was broken into about 20 feet from the guard shack. Also, one guard kept flirting with me when he saw me, and he once even showed up at my apartment AT MIDNIGHT "to talk"! WTF'! My boyfriend went ballistic over that one. When I complained, the office people told me that he had just been fired for doing the same thing to other women!! Why had they not warned us in writing about this maniac'! He had a access to my apartment for crying out loud!!
I also had to make several complaint about my downstairs neighbors - several thugs living in a one-bedroom apartment, WAY too many people coming and going, and a constant odor of marijuana. As it turns out, they were only forced to move after they fell far behind on their rent, mariuana was found growing in the bushes under their window, and they were found to be selling drugs from the apartment. It scares me to think of how long I lived ALONE around such dangerous hoodlums (I am a petite young woman). I was lucky not to be raped or hurt.
I lived in CONSTANT fear in Lantern Village, yet I felt perfectly safe in many other complexes all around Houston.
About the maintenance and amenities - the washers are small, old, expensive, and poorly maintained. The water gets turned off regularly, for some unbeknownst reason. The apartment was spacious, and I liked the fact that I paid no electricity (so the AC usage in the summer didn't kill my budget). Still, my security and sense of well-being were definitely not worth the money I saved!
