Think for yourself

If you read the negative reviews you may have a rather distorted view of the complex. So we did what most people should be doing these days...we saw it for ourselves. They are lovely. Very spacious. I lived in Clear Lake and paid so much more for less. Mary and her staff were very friendly. Security seems friendly and I feel safe having them there. As far as being a "bad neighborhood" I want to tell those people..."Hey, have you ever been to Pasadena'" Come on! Look, just come out, see for yourself, think for yourself, and you will see what a great deal it is.

So you just "saw" the apartments, huh? Wait until you've lived there a little while before you write another review. If that place is anything like it was when I lived there, you'll soon understand why LV has received so many bad reviews. As for that little park across the street - I hope you don't have any daughters, because the looks from the illegal Mexican guys packed into that tiny, crappy little dirt patch will make you want to dress them in head-to-toe snowsuits and glue them to your side until they're 35. By the way, I'm an *avid* runner, and I ran in that "park" ONCE. ONE time. That's all it took for me to start driving to the med center (in the UT gym area) to run on their track and at Rice Univ.
As for comparing ANY part of Houston to "Stinkydena"... why don't you just compare East L.A. to Disneyland? Any place looks nice next to Nastydena. Bottom line - unless you're comfortable living around illegal criminals (they broke into vehicles every night when I lived there), unless you like the noise of musica tejana/nortena blaring from the cars that speed by (no existe nada mas naco que eso), unless you like seeing trash strewn all over the streets (because that's the way they live in Little Mexico and Little El Slavador - just like home!), and unless you feel all warm and fuzzy when you encounter low-class illegals living a low-class life - you won't like the neighborhood surrounding Lantern Village. Just wait, you'll see.

Yes I agree, I am a Single Mother of 2 lovely boys & like every parent I worry for their well being & enviroment...Well to be honset I grew up here (really dont care for the area but the location is convenient) moved to West Side of Houston (awesome area) but it's too far from everything. I work Downtown & attend HCC on 610 & with these gas prices these apartments are at a great location & I honestly feel safe(I dont even live there yet I'm waiting for my keys). Even when I was younger & went thru my rebel era as a kid we knew not to mess with Lantern Village. Their security guards are AWESOME. I went to the office to attempt to lease, they take your DL#, License plate# & destination...also if you are try'n to avoid a certain "someone" they give you the option of informing you that "person" is wanting to visit or you can place them on a NO ENTER LIST (great for my ex husband). The area may not be the best but what is....Tell me where there is a little perfect community now a days...kids in middle school are mothers now I think it depends on how you raise your kids & guide them to be better people & not so weak minded educated them becuz if you dnt someone will. There is also a park right across the street (literally) with a little water park & bike route, Krogers adjacent from the property(& HEB'S ect.ect not too far) Easy access to Hwy59 & 610. I'm sure if you keep to yourself & of course be cautious of your surroundings (outside the property) just like you should always be everyone will be fine...

Listen, I to calimero, I live in the town homes literally in the same lot as the leasing office. Perhaps that makes the difference. I only see Asians. In fact, my neighbors are mostly Asian or Indian.I don't live too close to Kroger. It's quiet and the security may be tighter due to the fact the leasing office is right there. I am a student at Rice University and on the way to school and to work all I see at the park is children playing soccer. Maybe having a town home is different from having an apartment. A different class of people perhaps? We even walked to the little store which is two lots away late at night, there was no one out there. So perhaps it's where in Latern Village you live in that makes the difference.
Realistic _ Mother, despite your extremely poor spelling, I do appreciate your comment, much unlike the uncouth statement from the man above you.
