I lived here for one year exactly. Beware of what you are getting into before signing a lease. You can pay extra for a washer and dryer but that doesn't mean they will give you ones in good working order. My friends and I had many problems with parking, the so called security guards asking for our numbers and 'doing patrol walks in front of our door' and one of my friends was denied parking in a visitor spot ebcause she forgot her purse and didn't have her license to show. Many cars were burguralized while I lived there. A/C didn't work well all of the time. We had a recurring problem with the maintanence men so single women BEWARE!!!!!!! We kept finding the men had come into our apartment pretending to fix an appliance that they claimed we had called in about. We had not called them to fix any of the 'alleged' problems because they did not exist. They weren't there fixing the appliance because there wasn't a problem to begin with. IT was sooo creepy! And it happened frequently. I do not recommend this location. Look elsewhere and stay safe!

This review is typical of tenants who have problems with this complex. Yes, security it "on the ball," sometimes a bit overly so. Yes, you'd better have your license or ID whenever you plan to enter the complex. I only heard of one auto burglary during ten years of residence there, and this is a complex with over a thousand units! I'm highly skeptical of the "creepy" issues with maintenance; I certainly never heard of or encountered anything like that.

Some of the claims of this writer can be proven false by simply checking the police departments online crime reports for the Gulfton area. It is rare to find any crimes committed in this huge apartment complex. The area is a higher crime area, but the security guards and management at this complex seem to keep the criminal element outside this community due to thier vigilance. I am starting my 12th consecutive year here, and have lived at Lantern Villaqe twice before for varied lengths of time, I moved due to job requirements, and came back when I could.
