I've lived here for about 8 mos now.
1. Security. I haven't had any problems with break-ins, etc, and I haven't known anyone to have such problems. Nor have I seen any homeless people wandering about the premises. This is probably the safest apartment I've lived in. There is a gate for the parking garage, which you need a garage opener to get into. Once you get in the garage, you need the garage opener to get in the elevator, making it even harder for an intruder.
2. Noise level. I've lived in plenty of noisy apartment complexes, and the macgregors aren't too bad. Every now and then I can hear the people above me, but it's tolerable. I've heard that the side facing the freeway can be pretty loud, so I'd recommend getting a room not facing the freeway.
3. Staff. Staff is friendly; haven't had any issues with them yet.
4. Pests. I don't know what some of the other posters are talking about with the pest problems. I haven't seen a single roach inside my apartment or any other bugs. I guess if you keep your apartment reasonably clean, you shouldn't have such problems.
5. Residents. I haven't come across any shady people living here. Most residents are students or people working at the medical center.
6. Price. This is the reason I will probably move out soon. I currently pay $800 for my share of a 2 bedroom. Although it's not unreasonable given the location and the amenities offered, I am a student on a budget & I really can't afford to live here any more.
Bottom line: For this price, you can't get any better. It's not a steal and not a rip off either - you pay for exactly what it's worth. BTW, if you want a decent cell phone signal, I'd recommend getting a 4th floor room b/c reception is horrible on the other floors.
