I have lived in Madison Park since June 2004 to the present. I'm also counting the days until my lease is up. Since day one I have had problems with Roaches, Termites, Mice, Red Wasps and over various pests in my apartment. Each time I have called and requested service from maintance; and pest control, its always taken numerous calls to the office to finally get someone to come out. Even when they did its taken them 3 or 4 visits to fix the problem and even then it was only fixed temporarily. The bugs returned a few months afterward, and this complex does not believe in doing routine required pest control of all units to prevent a problem before it starts. This is the first complex I've ever lived in that doesn't routinely bait and spray for pest problems. Office staff here doesn't care if you have pest problems here, and I guess Rockwell Management doesn't either. I guess they are more interested in saving a buck, then providing good service to their residents and providing scheduled monthly pest control.
Maintance here is also very bad. Most of the time when I have called to have something repaired the message was never entered into the computer or maintance book for the men to come out. Its always taken multiple calls weekly to finally get anyone from maintance to come out and fix anything. When they do come out and fix something its usually fixed "half-ass" or very sloppy. No offense but maybe if the maintance men spoke enough English to understand what I was talking about, the problems would be fixed better. But so far no luck. My dish washer here has never worked right and one of the maintance men admitted to me that they don't know how to fix it. But no, I can't have a new one even after requesting one. Your appliances here have to blow up first before you get a new one. Other people have written that they have had problems with not enough hot water. I had the same problem myself for awhile when I first moved in, and it was one of the heating elements on my water heater. Seems like a common problem with the units in this complex, but maintance and managements never thinks it would be nice to check on that before you move it.
The apartment complex itself looks very run down. The best way I can describe it is that it is looking like a Ghetto. Plaster, paint and various repairs need to be done on the outside of the units. There are some very big gaps and cracks at the bottom of the walls in some of the buildings. I'm sure thats helping the bug problem be so wide spread. Also the trash dumpsters are almost always overflowing with trash and the whole area around them is always littered with glass and broken furniture, baby diapers. It looks so lovely when driving through the complex. Guess we're just on the once a week trash pick-up schedule..Trying to save a buck again I guess. Trash just litters the complex all around. The residents here are really a bunch of slobs in my opinion. Left over food gets thrown out on the side walks. Beer bottles every where. A lot of the complex looks like a big ashtray. Residents leave their trash outside their doors in trash bags. I walk my dog at night, and have seen the rats in the trash by peoples doors. Complained to the management here. Nothing was done about it, and no notices posted on our doors here about the trash problems. Management simply does not care. I've lived in apartment complexs where they would evict you in a second if you left your trash out like that. Here its ok to live like a pig. Use the laundry rooms at your own risk here too. Usually they are nasty, and god help you if any of your laundry drops on the laundry room floor and you wear it without washing it again. No telling what you would catch. Then again I don't know how clean our clothes really get here anyway. The washers and dryers are in pretty bad condition, the nice residents here try to wash all kinds of stuff in the washers. They have such respect for other people. My clothes sometime come out dirtier after being in the washers here. I now take all my stuff down to the laundry mat down the street. At least maybe I won't get hepatitis or some other disease from the washers and dryers there.
The inside of the unit I live in here seems really old. I don't know the age of this complex, but the best way to describe the condition of things in the apartment is "worn out". All the cupboards and drawers, and counters in the kitchen and bathrooms need to be totally replaced. All the wood is in bad condition. They are just worn out and if you try to clean them too much all the build up layers of paint start to peel off. The tubs/showers are "drop in's" and not marble and they have been refinished a few times, but the yellow staining keeps comming back through. I can't get them to look clean. They need to be ripped out and replaced also. Looks like there have been a lot of water leaks in the walls. The sheet rock in places doesn't look like its been fixed very well. Since I moved in the ceiling in certain places looks like its moved or sinking down. Probably from past water leaks in the upstairs apartment. It seems to me that repairs and up keep at this complex are not important at all. I guess the walls have to be falling down or the ceiling collapsing before Rockwell management and their staff will fix anything right.
Since I have lived here I haven't been a victim of crime like some of the other residents have. My car has never been broken into. But, I can see at night time a lot of suspcious things going on here. Cars roaming the parking lot with their lights off. Pretty obvious they are looking for cars to steal. That happens a lot. When I walk my dog at night I smell pot in the air a lot here. I think a lot of drug use is going on here. People hanging out in the parking lot making lots of noise. Loud radios from cars and loud music from other units. Fights between people yelling and screaming are pretty weekly here. Parts of the complex are not lit very well and its pretty spooky while walking at night. Like I said I have not been a victim of crime at this complex, but I do not walk at night without my cellphone and I carry a can of mace. There is just a feeling while walking through the complex that its not a very safe place, and its better to be on your guard. The type of residents that are moving in here are rougher it seems. If we have security here I've never seen any. I heard they use to have a patrol, but its not here now. I thought that apartment complexs did at least background crime checks on people' Seems like they are letting anyone move in here now. I guess as long as Rockwell is getting our rent checks it doesn't matter to them who the residents are.
The only good thing I can say about Madison Park is that the parking is pretty good. I've never had a problem finding a spot. But on that note I believe they are going to start charging the residents for the covered parking. Using the money for what I'd like to know' It sure won't be to benefit any of the residents. Glad my lease will be up in May!

This Is a bunch of crap. This is the first community I have lived in that have a verity of functions for their residents and are very concerned about their residents. If you would have attend the crime meeting the manager stated that it was only a survey.

This is a bunch of crap? Tell my friend who still lives at this hell hole that. His car just got broken into the other night. Security? What security? There is none. The maintance people haven't even dragged their lazy butts out to the parking lot to sweep up the broken glass still. Trash still litters the parking lot and the residents are still putting the trash out by the doors. What pigs! I am so glad I am out of this place, and I can't wait till my friend gets out so I won't even have to visit him here.

I agree so much with this post! The residents still are putting their trash out by their doors. Oh and someone now decided that putting tin foil on their windows is really attractive. Oh and also it looks like its ok to hang your laundry out on the bushes to try. Thats just what I like to look at...Someones nasty bra's and stained panties out drying on the bushes when I go out to walk my dog. This place gets more ghetto everyday!
