Beautiful Apartment but no response to safety concerns

Let me just say that my apartment is beautiful. It has all the wonderful amenities I desire. I have never had a problem with my actual apartment but there have been some things going on lately that concern me. I understand that burgarlies and car theft are an issue everywhere but most other places I have lived address residents safety concerns. There is no gate and it has been promised for 6 months. I would recommend the apartment, the staff is great, but they need to address the safety issue or I will not renew my lease. I have to say I still recommend the place because the crime that is here has been minor compared to other areas of a major city. The crime problem started once Hurricane Katrina and Rita evacuees moved into area apartments. I do not blame them because when you have that many people moving in any area there is bound to be an increase in crime and traffic. Some others have tried to blame the evacuees but my neighbors who are evacuees are absoluetly wonderful. So it is not so much that we have evacuees in the area it is the fact that this is a newer area so the criminal element started targeting here once all the apartemtns were at full occupancy. It is extremely quiet here as far as noise. I sometimes hear footsteps from upstairs but never music or the television. Overall I would recommend. For such a large community there have been relatively few instances.
