I've lived here for almost 2 years, and I'm bailing out when my lease is over in a few months.
PROS: Convenient.
1.) Close by Medical Center.
CONS: SECURITY IS NON-EXISTENT!
1.) Gate is frequently left open, and for whatever reason, it appears anyone can get pass the gates. 2.) LOTS of vehicle break-ins. 3.) I've seen pimps with prostitutes DRIVE in pass the gates into the garage, from tenants calling them for filthy, illegal services. Do YOU want your family exposed to this''' 4.) There are NO 24 hour security guards. 5.) Calls to complaint are left unanswered and not taken care of, short of you personally calling the police department, which I have frequently due to illegal activity and drunk neighbors. 6.) Expensive rent. 7.) Poor utility options; you do not get to choose your own company and have to use whom the complex has a contract with.(internet, cable tv, etc.) 8.) Poor parking options. For those that work late, good luck finding anything except on the rooftops. 9.) Water main goes out frequently, and tenants are left without water for up to 12 hours. 10.) Though it looks nice on the outside, there is too much illegal activity here during the night. Criminals will often stake out the places at night, and call in their crew after they feel the coast is clear. I have experience a break-in while it happened, and had to run to my apartment to call the police. (Which they arrived 15 minutes later, and 15 minutes too late.)

This review is exactly correct. Because of the location, Maroneal gets a constant stream of tenants new to the area. The staff are absolutely incompetent and do not have the slightest concern for your satisfaction or safety. Crime in the complex is rampant and the management is, as they will tell you repeatedly and rudely, "not responsible." If you move here, you will be a victim of crime sooner or later. Disgruntled tenants leave regularly of course, but we are all replaced immediately by the another person new to the area and connected to the medical center.

The sad reality is folks that MOST medical center apartments have crime problems. I currently live at another Lincoln Property and transferring to the Maroneal. I can assure you that crime is a problem everywhere and people have to be intelligent and not leave stuff lying out in their cars. The ONLY times my car has ever been broken into is when I've left stuff out in the back seat. Take personal responsibility and be smart!

This place is already one of the safest ones which have indoor parking. Please compare to other apartments and make a judgement later. Residents here are in good shape as you see quite a few Porsche, Volvo, Jaguar, Mercedes and BMW. Good luck to have a better place. Parklane may fit your standard if it is within you finance range. I heard too many stories in other apartments (priced around 600) that a new car gets stolen in first night or a new satellite TV receiver disappears when you are watching TV.

It looks like all of Houston needs an apartment makeover. I stay in Chicago right now and I just recently got a job in Houston and from the reviews I have read from quite a few places in and around the city, I don't want to even come down there. Right now Houston suppose to be one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. with decent living. From these reviews it makes Houston sound like a complete dump. Just about every apartment around my new job that has been reviewed is said to have thugs, car jackings, roaches, water leaks ect. Is Houston that bad people?

I've lived in all major cities in Texas: Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and now, Houston. In my opinion, only Dallas and Austin are really nice places to live and work. San Antonio is too small for me, and has no diversity. (Unless you really like Tex-Mex culture, because that's really all they have.)
Houston's biggest issue is the fact that is has no "Zoning Laws" which allows anyone to build anything anywhere, so long as they can pay for the land. This causes the city to look disjointed, which is to say, nice areas are mixed together with bad areas. (Some people say it gives it personality, I say it nurtures crime; just my 2 cents.) I prefer Dallas and Austin, because they have strict Zoning laws, which prohibits "the ghetto" from entering the nicer parts of the area.
Another bad issue with Houston is its terrible air quality. Houston at best, is an oil town, with refineries pumping pollution into the atmosphere 24/7, giving the city a very "dirty" look, due to the vaporized oil coming back onto the ground, covering buildings and infrastructure with small oil particles. For allergy sufferers, Houston will be your worst nightmare.
To sum it up, Houston is at best, a place for work, but a horrible place to live and raise a family. I plan to relocate my family to Plano, TX, where I can both enjoy working AND living there.
I apologize if my review seems harsh. But Houston seriously needs to shape up. Growing or not, this place needs a lot of work, and I feel the city officials are not at all proud of this city, and don't do enough to try making it as good as it can be, which is unfortunate.
There is however, one good thing about Houston.
People are really friendly here!
Regarding The Maroneal, I agree with this place being one of the safest apartments with indoor parking. Which isn't saying much at all. It just means The Maroneal is the best out of even worse choices.
