We moved from Pin Oak Estates across the road to Gables Pin Oak (Newcastle Rd entrance). We got a good rate on a one bedroom apartment and have now been living here for almost 12 months. We renewed our lease after the 6 months expiry and the increase was fair and reasonable (only $15 per month more). We were burnt by Pin Oak Estates with an unreasonable rent increase and so we left.

We are very happy with the location, quality of the apartments, the amenities and the service. The staff are very helpful and repairs/maintenance has always been done promptly and efficiently. The complex is clean and very well kept. In fact the entire complex has just been repainted and it looks great! We have had no problems with security as the guards are very diligent. We have never had a problem with parking and we live on the top floor. The only down side is the noise from the freight trains - although in the Bellaire area it is difficult to avoid this inconvenience.

We would have no hesitation in reccommending Gables Pin Oak.

Only a $15 increase??? Most people have been seeing anywhere between $50 and $100 increases. Mine has been a $75 increase and just recently a $50 increase on top of that. Word of advice, once you get in (if you plan to rent here) make it a long lease, they will not budge on prices and they look at you if you are dumb. btw (insider) ~97% occupancy, the Gables are for sale, and lots of Katrina victims. This is a dangerous combo for all tenants who have been here for more than a year.
