It's as good as most places in Midtown

I've always wanted to write a review, as I always thought the only people posting reviews are either ticked off massively or management sitting in the office bored... Anyway, I moved down here from NYC and I honestly like the Metro Midtown. The location can't be beat interms of being close to a few bars and restaurants, close to downtown, nice enough pool, and management is responsive. The kitchens/bathrooms are nothing to write home about, but the only place that I saw which had nicer amenities was 2222 Smith, and at the end of the day, I just didn't see the need to spend the extra money (and rents seem a bit over-priced right now in all the places in Midtown). As for the apartments, they are nice enough for the money, the rugs seem a bit old in some of the aparments (my friend has a new rug, mine is old) which is the only real thorn in my side there. If that is the worst thing then call me lucky.
The biggest thing I was worried about was the crime. All I will say is that in 1 year, I only saw some dude going through the trash inside the garage once. I have never had a problem with my car (only an idiot would leave something valuable in ANY car in Houston). My friend did have his bike stolen outside the garage (locked up and everything) in broad daylight...but that's Houston. You know that general crime throughout town is bad. The immediate area seems pretty safe in the 6 or so blocks around the building - with the occasional bum here and there.
All in all, I think its a nice place to live (keep in mind I didn't have huge standards moving from NY in the first place). I've recommended it to my friends moving into town without hesitation.
