Hi,
I lived at the Metro Midtown from March 2008 to December 2008. I definitely enjoyed living there. It's a very central location. I was able to walk to work in the downtown area, and had easy access to the major arteries of the Houston area (59,45,I10,288). I also had easy access to all the midtown restaurants, pubs, bars, downtown area, River Oaks, close to Memorial Park... So I can't stress what a great location it was for me, especially as a new comer to Houston.
My apartment faced the backside, so I had a view of the tree lined street from my apartment. Great view, very nice and peaceful.
I loved the apartment itself because the many windows, I love having natural light in the apartment, and pretty much the whole back wall was windows, so again a huge plus there. There is also a working fireplace which we used a couple of times. It was also a huge plus because it made the place feel more like home.
On the downside, there were a couple of things here and there, but not enough to keep me from coming back if I decide to. One was the sink in the bathroom would smell really bad a times, and neither we nor the maintenance people could figure out what it was. The place also somehow used a lot of electricity...we feel that it was abnormally high for us for the minimal amount of time we were inside the apartment and for a while tried to figure out what was causing it, but never could figure it out. It is true that on the weekends you may hear people outside walking by being loud, or the occasional group on the balcony, but it never bothered me too much. There was also one big theft where a brand new CL class Mercedes had all four wheels stolen and was left on blocks in the parking garage. How that happened, I don't know.
So, I have to say, I was overall happy with the place. Didn't have any major problems, the apartment had a pretty nice layout, great location, reasonabley safe.
