Better Places in Midtown

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
I moved in here in July 2007 when the complex was still owned by AMLI. Since being turned over to the current ownership, this place has completely fallen apart. There are bums in the dumpsters (which are in the parking garage), which could also explain the rash of break-ins. The rent is reasonable for Midtown, but the appliances are not very nice and the maintenance is often delayed. The outside walls have not been power-washed since 2007 and look horrible. The pool is typically filled with beer cans and cigarette butts. I like to party, but it's gross.
My time here ended very badly. I was planning on upgrading from a 1br to a 2br unit with my girlfriend moving in with me. I paid my deposit and put in my notice. The next week, we decided to put those plans on the back burner and I notified the office that I would be staying in my current apartment and asked to sign a new lease. I was told that the lease would be left on my door later that day (which it never was). I came back the next week and asked the same thing, they said this would not be a problem. Still no lease. Then on Thursday, I received a call from the office saying, "We just wanted to make sure you were still set to vacate your apartment this Saturday". It turns out they had rented out my apartment, while I was bugging them for a new lease. The manager worked to sort it out (she was actually helpful), but the used car saleswomen up front were completely useless. The location is great, but there are much better options in Midtown. I suggest you find another one.
