So, I wasn't going to bother writing a review for The Metropole until I read that 99% of the reviews here are from a bunch of whiners. And, most of their complaints are unwarranted (in my opinion). I guess this just goes to show... people will only complain when something is wrong but don't praise when something is right. So, here I am doing the latter!!
I moved into my unit the last week of September (Midrise unit). The staff (Layne in particular) was extremely helpful in making it a smooth transaction. It is true, there are a few amenities that were not ready when I moved in (FOB, Concierge, Fitness Center, and some others). However, the only thing that remains is the FOB system. To be honest, I'm dreading the FOB system as I find it a pain... but I can completely understand why some others want it for security. So, to be fair I have to say that their complaint there is valid. But the others are not. I think a lot of it has to do with just a lack of common sense... when it comes to construction EVERY SINGLE PROJECT I have seen has been late. So, I moved in knowing full well that some amenities would not be ready for a little while. But here we are in December and most everything has been delivered as promised.
As for the comments on the firewalls, I cannot speak for the Tower residences. Here in the midrise they are a little thin but not to a point that I think is unreasonable. In fact, they are better than any other apartment I've lived in. I think it is unreasonable to expect a completely silent apartment. If you want that then go rent a house!
I have had a few minor things that needed to be fixed in my apartment (oven light burnt out, needed a fan to be installed, etc... minor stuff). All of it was done for my by the time I got home from work that SAME DAY!
The community seems to have a mix of everything... young, middle aged, male, female, ---, straight, couples, singles, etc. I have noticed that this place is full of pretentious whiners though. I think some complains are legit... if you live in a house. But, some things just come with the territory of living in an apartment complex. For example... noise from parties. I threw a party on Halloween weekend (Sat night) and the next day I found out that one of my neighbors had submitted an official complaint. I mean come on!!... it is Halloween. One expects there to be parties. And, I purposely did it on the weekend even though Halloween itself was in the middle of the week. I tried to be cognizant of my neighbors but I guess nothing is good enough for them.
Anyway, given that it is new and there are surely some kinks to work out, I'm probably more lenient than others. But, I love this place and have already recommended it to many of my friends.
(If anyone would like a more detailed follow up, let me know and I'd be happy to get in touch with you.)
Edit: After some thought I do have to say something about the walls / noise. For the longest time I didn't have a neighbor on one side and my other neighbor seems to walk on egg shells so it was pretty silent. However, now that someone has moved in I can hear high pitched noises (such as their telephone ringing). It is very faint but can be heard relatively easily when I'm in my bedroom. However, I cannot hear anything else. Another thing is the girl who lives above me... whenever she walks with heels on the tile in the kitchen I can hear it. However, as I mentioned above I guess I never let any of these issues really get to me because I understand that I live in an APARTMENT... not a stand-alone home.

Maybe you can hang on to your job for a little longer!

Sorry to disappoint but I'm not a manager. Just a resident with NO ties to any of the staff (other than the few times I met with them to iron out the lease agreement details).

I am on the third floor of the mid-rise as well and I would have to agree with most things that "MetroMidrise3rdFloor" has said. I moved in to the apartment in early August and thought that the amenities would be completed at the end of that month, but they happened to be delayed a little while, which was okay by me as long as they got it right. Looking at the fitness room, the little party room (whose TV has been missing for quite some time) and the leasing office, I am pleasantly surprised with the amenities. The staff, which has taken the brunt of the verbal abuse, has been friendly to me (they even waited for me one time I was running late for a package, before the concierge). All in all, like "MetroMidrise3rdFloor" said, it is an apartment complex and is never going to be perfect.
