I've been living here since August 07. I moved in with certain expectations because of what management told me. Most of the information was all lies and excuse after excuse was provided. I figured there was nothing I could do and I just dealt with it. I should have known to get every little detail in writing. They made everything sound so perfect, and I dealt with the imperfections.

Over the past six months, I've had a water leak with mold in my apartment, which was fixed in a timely manner. Maintenance left a huge mess and splattered stuff on my ironwork though, and I wrecked my vacuum trying to get all of the powder out of my carpet. My apartment is fine and I do like it, but my washing machine always leaves fabric softener on my clothes, forcing me to rewash everything and my water pressure is pretty bad in the shower.

In my opinion, the gym is super small for how many residents have access to it. It would be the perfect size if it was only for the midrise and not for the midrise and tower.

I was just going to deal with everything and not bad-mouth the complex until what just happened to me. Management in the Metropole left me a notice saying I owed a balance. When I asked what it was for, they said they miscalculated my rent concession. Verbally we talked about my rent being a certain price, which is what the rent concessions were calculated for. I made the mistake of signing the lease assuming all the numbers were correct. The rent on my lease was $40 more a month than what I was told it would be. Otherwise I never would have signed the lease because of the price. So I averaged the 'rent' I was told and the 'concessions' given to me and was able to deal with that monthly price. "X" admitted to making a calculation error because of the initial rent value she used. They basically told me I had to pay the lump sum by a certain date or I'd be delinquent.

Well, I was persistent that this really was an error on their end and they should be the ones to suck it up. So I had to go as far as meeting with the HAA. Everything was finally agreed to in my favor and this was definitely a learning experience. I wish it wouldn't have had to go that far though, but at least everything was resolved and there are no hard feelings.

This is the worst experience I've ever dealt with at an apartment complex. However, I do feel safe and I do like the place and my floorplan, but I'm most likely leaving when my lease is over because of everything I've had to deal with. I could go a few blocks away and get a similar (or better) place for less money... believe me, I've already looked into it. And in regards to the midrise tenants, there are some filthy people that leave trash in the garage and in the stairwells and by the elevators. You'd think the people living here would be a little more considerate than that.

Some early residents have worked very hard to get Greystar, the management company and Cambridge, the owner, to complete this property to its advertised standards. A large part of the reason that the original poster feels safe here is due to the efforts of those early residents; we have a security officer in the garage and our garage has lights at night - yes, lights were too much to ask - due to residents' persistence. It still isn't what was advertised or promised orally during the "showing" and lease signing. It's better than it was during the first 6 months. The "concessions" are a joke and no different from any other completed property. We have in no way been compensated for the long delays in completing the property (We were promised in July that the property would be completely finished by August 1, 2007!! Our buildings are still wide open at night and the garage is unfinished.) Several other residents have cited misrepresentations by Greystar that were made for the purpose of obtaining leases. Your post is accurate.

I'm moving out too as soon as the lease is up. Why- unresponsive management, bugs, dimly light garage, paper thin walls, and lax security. Lot's of mid-rise options comming up from Alexan and Gables.
