Promises, Promises, now burglaries

When we moved in we were promised cameras would be installed in the garage and on the property. We were promised that the garage would be completely enclosed. We were promised (in writing in the advertising brochure) a building with controlled access.

None of these things have come to fruition and now we have repetitive burglaries. The management company is obligated by law to react. They do not. Simply putting notices out on residents doors is not what the law considers reacting, to what is now a repetitive problem. Texas law requires that they take an active step. They do not.

I have been an avid supporter of this place since day one. I love my apartment (great floorplan, amenities, etc) and have been one to defend the management team here as they have treated me with nothing but the utmost respect, been upfront with me, and have been exceedingly helpful and prompt in service since I moved in. Additionally, as long as the rent doesn't go up a ridiculous amount I might consider re-signing next fall. For the most-part, I think a majority of the people who have been complaining on here have just been little cry babies. However, I too have to agree that my patience is wearing thin here. The gate breaks multiple times a week, there has been a string of vandalism to cars in the garage, and all we get are notices on the doors. The walls aren't as thin as some other reviewers would have you believe but I can hear my neighbors in normal conversations from time-to-time which gets annoying (as I am certain I annoy them as well). They have informed us of an HPD officer who lives on site that we can contact but that will not truly deter the vandals. I don't truly fear for my safety here and think my apartment itself is rather secure. I really do still love the complex in general. But, if they want to keep me as a tenant when my lease expires in a couple of months, they are going to have to take some serious measures to get the situation in our garage straightened out because I will be one truly pissed off tenant if one day I wake up and find all four of my wheels taken, my car put on cinder blocks, my window smashed in, and items stolen.

I know I'm definitely moving. Over the past few months, I've seen too many ghetto people moving in, the halls being trashed, and I'm sick of living with slobs. Not all people at the complex are bad, but the few that are ruin it for others. I mean seriously, pick up after yourself. Be courteous to your neighbors. I'm also sick of the parking gate always being broken (either it won't open or it won't close) and tenants are taking it upon themselves to just park anywhere they feel like in the garage. That makes it difficult to get around semi safely. We used to have a guard that at least sat at the entrance of the parking structure, but I can't remember the last time I've seen him. Of course management says safety is our responsibility, but how in the hell are we supposed to monitor our cars? We should be able to have nice wheels and not worry about some thugs stealing them. It's not like leaving stuff open in the back seat; we can't hide the wheels. We have a piss poor management staff who made promises, isn't keeping them, and now it's our fault. So excited to get the heck out of this place. Sad because I like my apartment, but necessary because of the other tenants and management.

Those who have been tough on this place have been responsible for the property becoming as good as it has become to this point. Without those who have been willing to speak out, we would have a lot less here than we do presently. Any resident who thinks there are "cry babies" in this place is a resident who is benefiting and has been benefiting from the hard work of previous residents who have demanded the advertised services and amenities that we all pay for. You, MetroMidrise, should be thanking residents who have stood up for what we should have had from August 1, 2007, which is when the management staff promised all amenities and services would be in place. We still do not have all those amenities and services and it is now May 2008. This property would not have come this far without residents persisting to receive what we pay for.
