Metropole Apartments

I am apartment shopping and was reviewing these entries. If you really read, it's the same people writing over and over again- check out the email addresses. What a group of miserable residents. I actually went over to the apartment complex last night to see for myself, since you can really tell about a complex by going there at night. I followed someone through the gate and went into the garage. I drove through the entire garage and I was not able to find any lights out. I went by the leasing office because they told me they left a brochure with the concierge. I was greeted by a concierge who was more than helpful. When I went by last night, they were having a party for the residents and everyone seemed to be having a great time. I am interested in the Tower, which I have not read any complaints on, so it seems. There were a lot of cars in the garage and from what I'm told and from what I can see, it's pretty full. If it's such an awful place, why is it so full'

It's also hilarious that a review was left by someone who doesn't even live here. Parking garage lights get fixed when we complain in writing, which is probably why none were out. A lot of us are miserable here, which is why if you ask the about the attrition rate, you'll see why majority of people are moving out when their lease expires and NOT renewing. The parking garage appears full because it's so small to accomodate as many units as there are. And a lot of apts here have more than one person living in them, which equals two cars per unit. Do the math. Oh wait, I'm not sure you have enough common sense to. The concierge is helpful and I've had no complaints with him. It's too bad you didn't 'follow' someone in the gate when the fire alarms were going off for no reason all weekend. And it wasn't the complex having the party, it was a restaurant that was hosting it. You're extremely naive based upon how you judge places. I can't speak for the tower; just the midrise. Just don't say we didn't warn you :)

So - you followed someone through the gate, huh? That basically means you experienced our phenomenal great security the second you arrived. Yes, the concierge is friendly, the property is pretty at night, and there may have been a nice party going on (doesn't happen often, and yes, it's appreciated)...but none of this makes up for the issues we have all experienced. Did you drive to every floor of the garage to see the lighting? I live on the 4th floor, and that's the main floor where the lights are usually out - and they're usually out during the day...and since it's a garage, it's VERY dark...and what do ya know - the day time is when the breakins occurred (the tire-removal incidents occurred in the middle of the night). I still cannot believe that for what we pay, there is no visible security - especially after the numerous incidents. I know how much off-duty HPD officers cost because I am an event planner, and trust me - for what we pay and for the break-ins and the tire removal incident - Greystar/Metropole could afford an HPD officer on every floor of the garage 24/7! With our luck - by the time you move in, they'll have their act together. And by the way - I have asked every single person I've seen lately if they are staying there and renewing their lease, and not one person is doing so...including me. Lesson learned...just like one should never try a new restaurant until it's been around for a while - same goes with apartment complexes!

Ask the residents about this place or get sold. The leasing office's job is to sell you the apartment. Once they have you locked in, your screwed. I will be happy to sub-lease my apartment to you so I can get out 90 days early.

I am a little overwhelmed with the responses to my inquiry that I just posted today. I am very concerned though with being called a moron, ignorant, and that I'd fit in with the "idiots" in the leasing office. I probably will consider not living here because of the sounds of the cleintelle living here. And "string of burglaries"? Maybe you should check out the crime statistics for this place like I have. Actually, the apartments next door and in the area have had more burglaries than this place. If you read their rating on this same website, it doesn't sound much better. Thanks for your responses- I have to agree with metromidrise3rdfloor- that it's typically unhappy people with no lives on this forum. Get a Life!

If you???re sold on this place just from strolling through the parking garage and picking up a brochure- you must be a moron. Your evaluation is laughable and your common sense is lacking. Are you really ignorant enough to solely base your evaluation of the complex on the parking garage and BROCHURE?! You???re right- all of the current residents are lying and fabricating these stories of deception, disappointment, and disgust. We all really love insect infestations, the horrible management team, and random crime sprees in our community.
Thanks for the laugh and good luck with The Metropole. You???ll definitely fit in well with the idiots in the leasing office. I hear they are hiring individuals just like you at Greystar! :)

If you look at my history of comments on this board a vast majority of them are exceedingly positive. However, I too have started to get annoyed at some of the things that are going on here. *** The good: Best 1 bedroom floorplan I've seen. I hate plan boxes and like the angles of the one bedrooms facing the courtyards. * Nice detailing of the apartments themselves (granite, tile, upgraded appliances, fixtures, paint colors, etc.) * Door-side garbage pickup (though, even some of the cheap complexes are doing this now) * Nice pool area * Nice external appearance / landscaping * Location, Location, Location! * Shuttle * Concierge *** The Bad: Walls are relatively well insulated for sound but I can hear my neighbors from time-to-time. I can understand hearing a loud party or something but when I can hear an alarm clock or a full conversation or the girl above me walking on high heels on her tile, I find that unacceptable * Small gym * Prissy residents. I can understand getting angry if someone is blaring music every week but for the one-off party people just need to lighten up and have fun * Garage lights are sometimes working and sometimes not * Shuttle only goes 3 miles. I think they should at least go to Midtown or Rice village but they say those areas are too far *** The Ugly: Gate is broken about once a week * Fire alarm goes off once a mont if not more (4 times already this month!) * Though nice, I feel they are a little overpriced for what you get * There have been a string of break-ins and vandalism to cars in the garage. We used to have a guard in the evenings but he is there no more.
Overall, I like this place and will probably renew my contract IF THEY DON'T RAISE MY RENT! As stated above, I think this place is a little overpriced. But, rent typically goes up every year so if they keep me where I am now then I feel the rent will be acceptable. If they raise it, though, I'll probably move to a place in the area that is better value.
Aditionally, while I am not as strongly opinionated as the first poster I do have to agree that when it comes to apartment complexes, you cannot always judge a book by its cover. That said, you will typically only find people who complain oin these forums and not people who are happy. Sometimes these things just take a little bit of trial-and-error to find a place that is right for you.

How do you know the building is for sale? I looked at the commerical real estate listings in Houston and the Metropole is not listed.

Well I live in the midrise.. I like the place..I dont have parking issues I park on the 4/5 level. I am concerned about the tailgating into the garage I think there should be a security guard. I dont like pet owners staining the hall carpet. There were party animals and they were evicted. I never had issues with maintenance either. Good to know everyones opinion. The key faub fails at times..I think it should be more secure and the hallways should be very clean. Otherwise I will see how it goes..through my lease period.
