I have lived in Alexan for almost two years. I'm a young professional and I love my apartment. It is surely more crowded than when I first moved here, but you will find a parking space, and that is just part of in the city apartment living. The spaces are tight and I'm surprised that there have not been more accidents in the curves of the garage, but you get used to it and the occasional new ding on your car door.
With the addition of more people in the complex, you find that not everyone has the same hometraining, and trash may build up at the trash chutes or litter may be found around the garage b/c some people are too lazy to take it to the dumpsters.
I agree that more security makes a difference
I have had only very minor maintenence issues and they are promptly responded to. I will on occasion hear my neighbors across the courtyard being festive, but it is certainly tolerable.
If you are used to country living and want absolute quiet...don't move here. The complex is on I-10 and near a train track, so you will hear traffic and train whistles.
The rent is expensive, however you are paying for the convenience of living 5 minutes from downtown and in one of the more popular areas of the inner-loop.
