My husband and I lived in Nob Hill SW for 5 years. Many members of our family have lived here over the years and we were happy to move back into the neighborhood. Things were great until Harold Farb died. When he passed and the children sold off his properties things went to hell in a handbasket.
First, the apartments were rented out to a local university as dorm housing. The kids, although very respectful, created a change in atmosphere and turned Meyerland into Party Central. The party bus that takes the kids to school comes around every 15/20 minutes 24x7. The kids waiting for the bus always make a ruckus no matter what time of the day or night it is.
I have had multiple problems getting maintenance issues resolved, leaks plugged, and an air conditioner that works. Mary in the office isn't very bright and is only able to think to the next step told to her. If no one else is in the office she is completely unable to make a decision or assist anyone in any way.
The final straw was when in a single week they cut services (items that were part of our lease, they cut them mid lease without an explanation) and effectively raised our rent $200 per month. They refused to disclose the calculation method for the utilities fees that they were going to distribute to each apartment (a violation of Texas law) and they refused to disclose how much the complex was charged so that we could confirm that our calculation was accurate (again a violation of Texas law). One of the office workers actually admitted that corporate planned to build in extra fees in the utility bills so that they could up the rent as the chose in the middle of the lease.
Add to this the armed robberies in the parking lots, the absolute lack of security (they fired the patrol to save money), the bugs, the lack of real air conditioning, and the massive increase in rent, it was all too much. Why pay this much to live in a dangerous dorm with no maintenance' It is sad that such a great complex had to go so far downhill. Everyone is moving out and they can't give these apartments away. Many apartments have been vacant for more than a year with no one interested. There is a reason for this.
We have had these and many other problems. We still have mold growing in the apartment from Ike that they refused to address...I could go on and on.
As far as the price, I was able to rent a place in the galleria for almost half of what this place cost without all of the problems. Nob Hill is now a massively overpriced ghetto dorm.
