NO AIR CONDITIONING IN HOUSTON

Do not move to Nob Hill if you want comfortable air conditioning. The complexes are cooled by ancient chillers that produce an excess of mold and dust in the units. The air conditioning for the west section of Nob Hill North has been broken more than it has been working this summer. At the beginning of the summer it was broken for almost six weeks, and it has broken again repeatedly since then for shorter lengths of time. My apartment regularly gets to 80 F and higher in the evenings. The windows only open halfway and there is no way to get a cross-breeze so ventilation is poor. We have had to purchase several fans out of pocket just to maintain a livable environment. Do not expect a discount on your rent or even any genuine sympathy from the management for the inconvenience and discomfort.

Do you live on the second floor?? My apartment stays at 80 (I'm on the south section) and they said the A/C is fine but it's clearly NOT. I think they roofers forgot to put the attic vent / cooling stations on!! If the attic space is 150 degrees then the second floor apartments will never get below 80. I think they need to look into that. Our A/C unit has gone out more times than I care to count. I think it's because that thing is running too long and too hard trying to cool these units because the attic / roof has zero ventilation and cooling. The roofers took them off and I don't see any that were put back on.

The AC in southwest has been fine, but you have a right to be upset. Have you asked for a discount on rent, rather than just expecting them to do it out of goodwill? If not, it can't hurt to ask, perhaps even suggesting that you'll be leaving once your lease is up if not.

Yes, I asked for compensation. I was told curtly, "We don't do that." The management acted so surprised when I asked to sign the 60-day notice to vacate, too. Good riddance to this place.

It's August 26 2009 and no a/c, last week no hot water, mercy me. People are dying here like flies. Sad to have this kind of legacy for Harold Farb. They should take "Nob Hill" off of this place. it's an insult to his name. Louanne
